I learned something sad the other day. Apparently OPI recall all limited edition polishes on a certain date. Where do they go? What happens to them? Is there a big warehouse full of much-coveted discontinued shades? If so, I’d
like to go on holiday there, please.
So the moral of this story is that if you’re toying with the idea of buying some polishes from OPI’s Burlesque collection, you’d better hurry up, before they disappear and are only available on eBay from some hideous scalper. I’m still kicking myself for not getting myself a bottle of Smitten With Mittens from the 2009 Holiday Wishes collection… sad…
So, Sparkle-icous is a gem of a glitter. This is probably the most spectacular out of the glitter half of the Burlesque collection, just because it is so unashamedly blinging and over the top.
It’s so bright and fun looking that I think it would be impossible to feel miserable whilst wearing this. It’s a riot of gold, pink, and blue. Not overly festive, which is good actually, as I do fancy this one as a layering polish on summer toes as well.
So what do you think? Is this something you’d ever wear? Part of me thinks
that I am probably a bit too grown up to really get away with this, but then again, so what. I don’t really subscribe to the fact that you should act your age with nail varnish. I’m not ready to give up fun colours and finishes and disappear into a world of pearl and pink frosts.
The photo on the right, by the way, is taken under artificial light, and the one at the top is in natural light. I just really wish I was able to capture the actual pinging and sparkling and shining on a photograph, as this one is truly mesmerising.
So. Thinking (obsessing) about that place in America where all of the limited edition OPI polishes end up. There are a few from last year’s Christmas
collection that I didn’t get that I wish I had. And then the classics like Vampire State Building, Rainforest, La Boheme…the list goes on.
If you were able to have a trolley dash in there, what would be the first ones you’d home in on?
Helen
The Burlesque collection will be available until the end of December (I don’t have an exact date yet), and 15ml bottles are £9.95 each from Lena White. This was sent to me free of charge for review purposes.
Don’t forget to enter our give-away to win a Venus Embrace Pamper Pack!
Are you serious?! Damn. I have GOT to find out where the discontinued polishes go. It was so hard to get Mad As A Hatter (and I paid a bomb for it). I’d probably just pad the trolley with cushions/pillows & swipe a bottle of every color in there!
I had to choose between Sparkle-icious and Show It & Glow It. I chose Show It & Glow It. This had a little too much gold in it for me.
I can’t decide how I feel about the glitters in this collection. I do like them, but I just don’t feel the need to own any of them.
Don’t worry about Smitten With Mittens, I bought it for my sister last year, she wore it on Christmas Day while I was wearing Ruby Pumps and they looked near identical – I was kicking myself at first for not getting one for me but on the nail they’re really similar.
I’m going to order all of the glitters. I’ll join you on holiday there. I’d also love to know where all the LE polishes go. Looks fantastic on you. I hope they don’t disappear soon. I have to order them yet.
All recalled polishes actually do get sent back to a distribution warehouse. Like a wholesaler warehouse kinda place. I have a friend whos dad worked in such a place and theyve sent me a bilion polishes over the last few years. What collor is Smitten With Mittens? I can look for it in my stash if youd like. Cant promise I have it but I do have several polishes from last Christmas.
fab adore it
