Today I have another one of the rather fabulous My Face Cosmetics Lil’ Bling range for you.
The other day, I spent a couple of hours swatching every single gold nail varnish I own, for a new comparison post (coming soon).
This was something of a labour intensive task and by the time I was finished, I didn’t want to be anywhere near a gold toned polish.
So luckily for me, this polish was waiting in the wings, looking for a moment in the spotlight.
As you may know, I’ve already tested out a couple of these polishes. You can read about Sp”ice”y here and Gilt-y here.
The formula of Silver Screen was exactly what I was expecting. Practice makes perfect! I gently buffed my nails and applied two coats of Silver Screen. It was dry within moments, and I was left with this lovely brushed silver effect.
Those seeking a more mirrored Minx type finish should probably look
elsewhere as this doesn’t have that kind of shine – it is not dull by any stretch of the imagination but it isn’t really glossy and shiny either. I do like this style of finish – it isnt matte – it’s kind of somewhere in between. Satin, perhaps.
I wore this for two days before it started to look a bit tired. I would never use a topcoat with the Lil’ Bling polishes, as it ruins the effect, but of course this does mean that your polish doesn’t have the longevity that it would do if it were protected with topcoat.
Bit happy days – this stuff dries so quickly that all you need to do is pop another coat on over the existing manicure and it’s all as good as new again. I’m starting to think this would be a good contender for a summer holiday manicure as it’s so quick and easy to touch up and breathe new life into it once its looking a bit sorry for itself.
You’re also going to see a bit more of Silver Screen between now and Christmas. Much as I don’t like covering it up, I have found that it is a simply marvellous base for all these glitter polishes that are around at the moment.
What do you think?
Lil’ Bling polishes are £5.99 for 15ml and are available exclusively in Boots. This was sent to me for review purposes.

I think it’s great and what a good idea to use it as a base for glitter polishes. And a big tick to the idea of using it as a holiday mani.
I definitely prefer this to the gold one, this looks really pretty on you.
I’d love to see a silver polish comparison too, but that would probably be too much trouble after you’ve just done a gold one!
Gilt-y is a really nice colour but doesnt look nice on me. I might have to give rhis a try though.
I’ve always wondered are those your nails? they are sooo long!!!
Love this polish. Looks wonderful on you. I can imagine that this would show up every defect on your nail. Love it anyway.
