Once in a while I go on what I refer to as a Classics kick. When I’ve had enough of crazy glitters and wacky colours and want to go back to smokey grey eyes, red nails and red lips.
Readers of my Twitter feed will know about my frantic search for a great red
lipgloss over Christmas. Well, this pre-dates that by about four years. I’d totally forgotten that I owned this nail varnish until it turned up in the box of the lost nail varnishes a couple of months ago. It is the first red polish I ever bought, when I decided that I was sick of the constant French manicure I always used to sport.
This stuff is amazing, polish snobs. Considering NYC comes from Superdrug and costs about £2.00, this
absolutely fantastic. A good couple of years since I last used it, it is still silky, smooth and not dried out or crispy at all. Perfect.
Whereas earlier in the month I was saying that I’d rather spend my hard earned cash on OPI rather than Maybelline, I have to say that this is difficult to beat. It’s a smooth, slightly orange toned red which is a perfect creme. Not too runny but just thin enough to get perfect coverage without any pooling.
This is three coats. I have seen NYC in Superdrug since I bought this one but I have a sneaking feeling that the bottles have got smaller.
They have started giving them names as well, which is a huge relief, as I hate it when companies don’t give their nail varnishes names. I feel sorry for the nail varnish just known as 223, when it should have a great name. It deserves one.

This is lovely! I know what you mean about going back to classics sometimes, when I feel that urge I usually pick OPI Girls Just Want To Play, that’s a lovely bright red creme.
Great colour! I never thought I would use red, but there was a free nail inc. red nail vanish in one magazine (can’t remember, have way to many) and I love it! Now I only need long finger nails 😀
That is a great classic red. Why pay more?
I don’t care if it’s a low priced polish if it’s a good one. This is very pretty on you. I love a bright red polish. It’s sexy, sophisticated and sexy.
I adore this colour, looks fab on you Helen. You just can’t beat a good red sometimes!
