Nubar Wildlife - Just Nice Things

Nubar Wildlife

Read Time:1 Minute, 50 Second

I am rapidly reaching the conclusion that duochromes are what Nubar do best. I mean, they are an interesting brand anyway in that they come out with random ranges of colour families, and of course, the fact that they are cruelty and Big-3 free, but I have to say that I am a fan of their duochromatic polishes more than anything else they offer up.

Remember how much I liked Cherry Cordial from last year’s Chocolate Truffles collection? Well, Wildlife is its counterpart from the earlier collection featuring nothing but greens. Not being a humungous green fan, this and Reclaim were the only ones I picked up from this range. What can I say? I like the flashy ones!

I was a bit concerned initially when I applied Wildlife as I thought it was going to be mega sheer. Yes, it needs every one of its three coats but thankfully it thickened up nicely and was perfectly opaque.

I like this as although the base colour is definitely a murky khaki green (as I saw when I removed it and the cotton wool became increasingly sludgy), it has an extremely strong yellow and rose coloured flash. Almost a triple-chrome. This works well for me as I find it constantly entertaining and could sit and stare at it for hours, whilst tilting my hand from side to side. Tragic, isn’t it?

Wear on this was excellent. I ended up having this on for four days, due to general time commitments, and it still looked pretty good by the end of the fourth day. A bit of tipwear yes, but I attribute that more to the fact that I had to use Seche Vite topcoat over it as I couldn’t lay my hands on my Nubar Diamont anywhere.

I also wore this polish to a blogger meet-up in London. I know these ladies are hard to impress and always have to think carefully about what polish I wear when I see them.

Thankfully, this one met with unanimous rapture and admiration. Holding your own in front of a group opf hypercritical beauty bloggers after three days of wear? Well done, Wildlife – high praise indeed!

Oh my. SO PRETTY. Not too keen on green myself but I too would find the effect endlessly entertaining, so might need a little splurge!

Helen this looks fab! I agree with you about Nubar, they are awesome at turning out duochromes. I also have the Sparkles collection, so they do glitter awesomely! i love my nubar glitters more than my color club glitters.

Wow this is amazing – I could sit looking at the pics of your nails for ages and they are static. I really like this colour. Thanks for this. Jan x

I think I agree with you about Nubar doing duochromes best. I have a few of their other colors, and their Diamant Shine topcoat; and while they’re not hideous, they’re okay-run-of-the-mill-average. The apply decently, but not fabulously in all cases. They wear well, but will chip if you abuse your nails. The topcoat is kind of ‘meh’ – especially for the pricetag. I’m not 100% sure that their regular colors are worth the price tag, since there are many dupes among China Glaze (yay etailers), drugstore brands, and the like.

But their dual-tool nail art colors…and their duochromes. Heaven!! (I’m currently wanting their Metallic and Frost dual-tool nail art pen sets. Not that I do a whole lot of nail art, you understand…it’s just the “ooooo, shiny” reflex kicking in. That, and the thought of all the potential things I could do.)

    I know. I’m sad 😀

I adore this whole collection of greens. This is gorgeous on you. I couldn’t wait when that collection came out. I immediately put this polish on. It’s one you can just gaze at forever!

Wow, although I do not prefer this color, this concept is wonderful! The duochrome look is just unbelievably eye catching! I can only imagine how some other shades done this way might look. Very, very interesting and I would love to see others in this line….
