OK, so hands up if you don’t like this. Nope, no hands? Thought not. GOSH is a Danish brand and I don’t know where they are available I’m afraid, as they are in every Superdrug on your average UK high street.

GoldenDragon1Golden Dragon is one hell of a beautiful polish. A green jelly, it isn’t quite duochrome but it has a great amount of gold shimmer running all the way through it, and a slight blue tinge. I can’t think of a more apt name for it as it is exactly as I would imagine dragon scales to look like.

Application was great. It was a little bit sheer so this is three coats, but you can live with that when the colour payoff is so good.

GoldenDragon4I’ve got to stop showing you pre-clean up photos. You’ll all be thinking I’ve become all slovenly and sloppy of late. I promise I haven’t, but the light has been quite bad recently, what with all the rain we’ve been having, so I’ve been snapping away when and where I can.

Drying time wasn’t the fastest and this would definitely benefit from some fast-dry topcoat. I changed this after two days but it was still looking pretty good by then.

GoldenDragon3Feast your eyes on the close-up. It sparkles, but not in a glittery way, more shimmer and shine. Glorious!

GOSH retails for about £5.00 from Superdrug and other chemists. I don’t think you can buy it from them directly online though. There is a rumour going around that GOSH is actually made by MAC. I have no idea if there is any truth in this but I know that I love their products. I have a few of their eyeshadows (see here) and they are brilliant.

So there we have it. What do you think? Nixxy – this one’s for you! Literally!

  1. Oooh! I don’t think I’ve a more beautiful color. Just lovely. Don’t worry about the pre clean up photos. We still love you anyway…lol! We can’t always present perfection. Last time I checked, we were all human. Lol…I sound like I’m working for the new Misa fall collection.

  2. OMG I am sooooooooooo in love with that I will be looking for that next week. Oddly up here GOSH polishes were dead cheap when i got into them 18 months ago but now Superdrug charges £7.00 for them up here.

  3. I can even see the fire from the dragon. This is a gorgeous shade. It does lok like dragon scales. I can barely see anything wrong with your application. Love this one on you.

  4. I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a make up snob, I never use high street brands. Most of my polishes are OPI, with a few Zoya, Essie, Leighton Denny, Nails Inc, Chanel, CND etc thrown in. How do cheaper brands like this really compare with regard to application, wear, brush etc?

  5. I love this green! It’s gorgeous! I went and looked at Gosh online, I think you can buy on line but I have to look into it further. I’ve gone on one European biz trip a year and that’s the one thing I love – hitting up the local drug store and buying makeup that I can’t in the US. I am only sad that I am not going on that trip this year 🙁 Have a great weekend!!!

  6. It has a jelly finish and is nearly duochrome? I never would have thought that possible! It’s such a stunning green. I adore the name! I hope GOSH comes out with an entire collection of mythic beasts.

  7. Andrea I am wearing GOSH Ocean It has now been on my nails 6 days and all I have is tiny bit of tip wear no chips. This bottle is a bit gloopy now (had it 9 months and used it a lot) and i usually apply 3 thin coats of it. I have 3 other GOSH ones and get just as good wear from them although I am dissapointed that they retails around the £7.00 mark up here.

  8. I’ve never tried green on my toes – can you believe that? I think you are absolutely right though.

  9. Wear was fine, as was application. The only thing that was noticeably different was drying time as it did take a while. Good thing is that GOSH is formaldehyde free though.

  10. I may do a bit more research on online availabilty next week. It’s nice just to be able to walk down the road and grab some. Once again though I wish we had some of the brands that you guys can get.

Where in Europe do you usually go?

  11. The jury is out on Gasoline. It’s not what I expected not sure if I like it yet or if it is a bit cheap and tacky looking. 10 yrs ago it would have been my fave colour but now not so sure.

  12. All I know about GOSH (having not tried their stuff yet because it took a while to establish the first fact) is that they don’t test on animals and their nail varnish is supposed to be hard-wearing to a point that rivals Barry M. So yeah it could be MAC since they have those traits in common! 🙂
