Recently, we had a new addition to our house, in the shape of a teeny kitten. She was the runt of the litter, weighing less than a kilogram. We’ve been having great fun with her, teaching her to play, jump, run, and inevitably, teasing our other cat. They’re starting to get on well now, give or take the odd tail pounce or dropkick by the kitten.
However, not to put too fine a point on it, but kittens can be stinky. How something that is small enough to fit in the palm of my hand can actually pong out an entire room is beyond me. So, when I was approached by Di Palomo to see if I wanted to test out some products from their home fragrance range, I jumped at the chance.
I hadn’t really heard of the brand up until the approach made to me, so I had a quick read up. A UK company, apparently Di Palomo was born in July 2003, as “Three friends enjoy lunch overlooking the River Dart in Devon on a perfect, English summer’s day. A second bottle of Verdicchio is opened as they share vivid recollections of time spent in Italy….. Inspired to capture their memories with fragrance, Di Palomo was born. Since that very first inspiration, quality, style and attention to detail have been combined to create a truly indulgent collection of bath, body & fragrance products. Exquisite packaging, and complex fragrances, instantly take you to scene of the inspiration … from a Tuscan farmhouse in the early morning to an evening walk through the orange groves or a vineyard overlooking an Italian lake. ”
Sounds glorious, doesn’t it?
I was sent the Wild Fig & Grape Fragrant Reeds and the accompanying candle., which retail at £20.00 each. Beautifully boxed and presented, these would make a gorgeous gift for someone’s birthday (we are not mentioning the “C” word yet here on Just Nice Things). The candle is housed in a date wood bowl, and the reeds are in a very prettily shaped glass jar. You can tell that these are high quality products and that there has been no skimping on the levels of pure fragrance here.
The scent itself is absolutely glorious. Described as “a rich, modern fragrance with top notes of grape & gardenia, middle notes of ripe fig, orange blossom & mimosa resting on a sensual base of sandalwood, amber & vanilla”. Stunning. I’m not much of a one for mimsy floral scents, and thankfully, Wild Fig & Grape isn’t one. It is rich, fruity and Autumnal, without being overly musky or hippy-esque (something I always worry about when I read about a product containing sandalwood).
The scent is strong without being overpowering, and I’m really tempted to try some of the other products in the range. Di Palomo also offer this fragrance in the form of shower gel, cleansing bars, bath syrup, liquid soap and eau de parfum. As well as the Wild Fig & Grape, the other scents are White Grape & Aloe and Orange Blossom with Wild Honey & Olive. Sound divine, don’t they? If I can’t immediately be transported to a Tuscan farmhouse then this is the next best thing.
I’m really pleased that my home is now scented with these gorgeous products. I’d recommend them to anyone seeking an alternative to the traditional plug-in, or looking to purchase a gift from a UK company that has real attention to detail and customer service. And it won’t put your cats off their food…
*PR samples…the products, I mean. The cats are ours*

ahhhh kitty!!! so so cute. 🙂 xx
This sounds lovely. I prefer diffusers and candles to plug-ins. I can sympathise with the stinky kitten issue as well. Mini-stink bombs!
The kitten and the grown up cat are absolutely adorable. As a human mummy to 4 cats I can totally empathise with a little kitty aroma, I’ve tried every plug in air freshener on the market, all of them very synthetic and short lived. I much prefer candles and diffusers 🙂 Jude xx @jadlgw
Awwwwww adorable kitten. Miss having cats but sadly they are too appealing as snacks to huskies.
What a sweet little fur ball! I’d love to have candles all over the place. I got my apartment painted last year. There was lots of soot on the ceilings, parts of the walls and even on plastic hampers. I did everything right with the candles but still soot. I guees I should try the reeds.
