Unless you’ve been stuck under a rock, you’ll know the latest must-have beauty product is one (or both) of Sleek’s new Ultra Matte palettes. There are two versions helpfully distinguished by the names V1 Brights Ultra Mattes and V2 Darks Ultra Mattes.
Both contain 12 pressed mineral-based matte eyeshadows in complimentary and blendable shades, and both cost just £7 each. Bargain!
I managed to bag both palettes from my local branch of Superdrug, possibly because the palettes had just come out and the shoplifters hadn’t got to them in time, and with a 3 for 2 offer on in stores, picked a blusher too. Here’s V2 – the dark version:

A quick play with just three colours resulted in the pictorial evidence below.

I relied on Flesh as a base with Maple on the lids and Villan in the outer corners. You’ll have to forgive me for the hurried and horrendous job because I wasn’t wearing my contacts and am as blind as a bat/mole/old lady without some much needed assistance to my retinas but hopefully you get the idea with how these eyeshadows look.
I used an eyeshadow primer and the good old NYX jumbo pencil in Milk to create a canvas for these shadows to stand out which I do think this is important as these shadows are very fine and not hugely pigmented.
You need a fair amount to build up to a decent colour but for £7 you can’t really quibble. This palette is ideal if you’re nervous about using matte eyeshadows or unsure about forking out much more on expensive brands for similar shades.
I’ve not tried the other colours but I am looking forward to experimenting with those – they are an exciting range of dark shades perfect for vampish, smokey eyes. I suspect the possibilities are endless with these 12 shades and I also reckon this palette will be very popular as the other one containing bold, neon bright colours is for the brave. Ooh I can’t wait to try that one too!
I do find mattes look better in photos especially against flash and it is certainly favoured more by make-up artists for bridal looks, more so with Asian ones who normally are about the bling and glitterati.

First impressions? Yes, I am pleasantly surprised at how these shades go so well together and can be worn in the day, so I will be reaching for this palette more often.
If you have this palette, what other combinations of colours from it do you recommend trying? I’d love to know your thoughts.

Very pretty results…I’m in Italy now but can’t wait to put my hands on one of this palettes!
I can’t decide wich one I want…brights vs. darks..That plum color on your eyelid looks beautiful
