Butter London All Hail McQueen

Morning all! I hope you’re all well. So, after three years of blogging, this post actually contains a brand that is new to me. Can you believe it? Just when I thought I’d tried practically every nail polish brand on the face of the earth.

Here we have Butter London’s All Hail McQueen. Butter London is a brand that has crept on to my radar over the last year or two. It has been huge on the American blogs, and is just gaining momentum over here. Ironic really, what with it being named “London” and all.

All Hail McQueen is actually now known as “All Hail The Queen”. Confusing. I can only think that whoever is in charge of Alexander McQueen’s estate (for this was released after his demise) didn’t like the name being used, and so Butter London had to change the name PDQ. So technically, I am in possession of a bit of an antique here as it has the original name.

Onto the polish itself.

This was a gift from my good friend Louise from Get Lippie. She bought the colour when it first came out, and then regrettably found that no matter what she did, no matter what base or top coat she used, it just fell off her nails. Chip city. Always one to take up a challenge, especially one as pretty as this, I took this one off her hands (not literally – it was doing that on its own anyway).

All Hail McQueen is a beige jelly that is packed with holographic pieces. It wouldn’t be out of place in Nubar’s Gem collection actually. It is very, very smooth, and applies perfectly. It is a tad on the sheer side though, and I think this was four careful coats. It dried well, and conversely to Louise’s experience, it actually lasted a week on me. It is light enough that a bit of tipwear doesn’t really show that much, and I can genuinely say that this lasted perfectly on me. I only removed it because I got bored. I used it over a layer of OPI Nail Envy and used Ciate SpeedCoat as my topcoat. A magic combination?

What do you think? Are you a fan of Butter London? I’m thinking I might be!

*a gift from Get Lippie. I’m sad it didn’t work for her, but grateful that she sent it my way*

  1. I was sure that you had reviewed Butter London before now! I’m a big fan of the brand, they have some lovely shades, but I find the cap quite difficult to hold. I actually try to push the larger outer cap back on as that suits me much better. I’m currently wearing HRH which is definitely a shade you’d love.

  2. I have BL Yummy Mummy which looks sorta similar to this but more “taupe-y”, that ones great in two coats but then I have “Pink Ribbon” which is SUPER sheer and would take 6 coats to be opaque!

  3. I have this colour but it didn’t look that great on me the last time I wore it. Maybe I’ll try it out again though; it is such a pretty colour!

  4. I Love Butter London, the colours are great and I get really good wear out of them. I’ve not tried this one (in either name) but it looks lovely.

  5. I was positive you had tried Butter London before too as I remember having a conversation about it on here….I like their polishes, they work well for me!
