As you may know, Google took the decision to retire their Google Friend Connect subscription service from non-Google owned blogs. This is one of such blogs, as we are a self-hosted WordPress site. At first we thought it just meant that the widget would be removed and new followers wouldn’t be able to sign up, but it transpires that all links to Just Nice Things that would have previously appeared in your Blogger dashboard, or Google Reader have also disappeared. Thanks a bunch, Google. It took Sheenie and I three years to build up a very loyal readership via GFC, and we are quite upset that this has been taken away in one fell swoop.
You can still follow Just Nice Things by manually adding our link to your Google Dashboard, signing up to our email or RSS feeds, or following us via Bloglovin. Links are on the right.
It isn’t just us that have been affected by this. If you’re wondering why your favourite bloggers haven’t updated recently, well, they probably have, but you just aren’t receiving the feed via Google any more.
