You know you’re in for something good every time a new collection from Illamasqua drops. Their spring/summer 2012 contribution is a spectrum of boldness engulfed as Human Fundamentalism, and as the name itself gives it away, it’s pretty mental in the kick-up-the-arse kind of way.

Illamasqua has thrown a curve ball by drastically shifting away from their usual dark, moody themes with this eye-popping collection. It’s like it keeps prodding you sharply in the back to stop being so conventional.
Head of Product Development David Horne (who’s always a joy to bump into at events and when he’s loitering around in the Illamasqua shop), made a very good point about the wild colours from Human Fundamentalism at the launch last night – people are quick to get a permanent tattoo but run a mile from the thought of wearing a blue lipstick which can be wiped off in seconds and well, doesn’t hurt a bit. No one flinches at dying their hair a whacky colour, why should make-up be treated differently in the form of expressing an identity?

As always, it was also fantastic to see Illamasqua’s Make Up Director Alex Box working her mesmerising magic on yet another unconventional and mind-blowing look, not to mention the stunning art work on display, showcasing her skills. Well Illamasqua, I’m squealing with delight at the delights you’ve revealed. To see some great swatches, have a look at Vex in the City’s post.

Skin Base Foundation Shade AU (£25)* Limited Edition
Named after the chemical symbol for gold, this special edition contains tiny flecks of metallic shimmer ideal for use on all skin tones and with mutiple uses – mix with moisturiser or foundation, use as a contour or wear it alone .

The products on everyone’s lips are (literally) the teal coloured lipstick Apocalips, the white Precision Ink and Burst, the teal eye shadow and as you may have noticed, the emphasis is very much on the eyes so no new blushers and pigments. Still, by now you ought to realise you can use pretty much anything from Illamasqua to substitute for those products.
It’s also the first time Illamasqua has released a palette of neutral shades so it’s up to you whether you want to be conservative and safe, or tropically bonkers with the only way Illamasqua deems fit.

The collection launches on the 15th of March but you can view it online and make a pre-order NOW through www.illamasqua.com.
Human Fundamentalism is available globally from 14th March online at Illamasqua and at Sephora.

I love the look of this collection, however, I am really disappointed to see items from the permanent line being promoted in this as it’s usually all new with Illamasqua collections. Both nail polishes look gorgeous and those palettes are stunning.
im actually tempted with the bright palette but nervous as no shop up here to view and try products.
What is the purple used on the one models lips as love that
Hi Britny, I believe it’s Fierce (http://www.illamasqua.com/shop/products/lips/fierce-intense-lipgloss). It is being reintroduced with a lip brush/sponge applicator to make application easier. I don’t have this personally but am tempted especially as it looks stunning on the model.
thanks Sheenie
