A girl’s just got to have a Tom Ford lipstick in her life. I used to think they were over-priced. Then along came the Louboutin lipsticks and now £39 for a lippy is quite the bargain in comparison.
My favourite type is matte as I favour a rich, pigmented colour pay-off and don’t want half of it on my teeth. Tom Ford’s Black Dahlia* exudes sexiness – a deep vampish burgundy in a velvet matte finish.
I must admit I let out a silent cry when I had to dab the Tom Ford initials from the tip of the lipstick bullet. I did it quickly – you know, like a Band Aid, you’ve just got to rip it off. The case is solid and luxurious, which it has to be for the price the total package commands. (Ssh, it’s nicer than Chanel’s.)
The lip colour goes on smoothly and comfortably, hugging the lips like a cashmere sweater. There’s no need to go over to achieve opacity – it does this in one coat. I used a lip liner for a neat finish, which you just have to do with bold colours.
Ah, I’m in love. I can see what all the fuss is about and it’s nowhere near as expensive as Louboutin lipstick so there! The next time I’m having a really bad day or want to treat myself, I’m going to pocket a new Tom Ford lipstick.
Tom Ford’s lipsticks are available from the wonderful House of Fraser. To see what others they have, visit their beauty page but if you’re after Black Dahlia, you’d better hurry as there are only a handful in stock!
