A few months ago I wrote about how to get a good night’s sleep. It did involve paying close attention to a number of contributing factors, a few of which required a conscious effort so you may be interested to know there is an alternative and easier way to bank those Zzzzz’s.

Sleep Plus’ Pillow Spray* is a fast-acting natural remedy to help restore healthy sleep patterns for restless sleepers and has been clinically proven to help you sleep better. The cynical part of me thinks it’s daft but the curious side was intrigued to see if the reviews were actually right. In the name of research I have been trialling the Sleep Plus Pillow Spray by This Works for the past few days to see whether or not it works.

It’s really simple to use: spray liberally on your linen just before you get into bed. The potent and aromatic blend with lavender is gradually released, having a calming effect on the senses.

On my first night my cat woke me up after 2½ hours, wanting to go out but those 2½ hours felt rested. I can’t quite describe the sensation other than it felt like a very deep and satisfied sleep. I went back to bed and fell back into the sleep-induced coma for a further 4-5 hours and woke up feeling really refreshed.

The consecutive nights that followed were fortunately the same. I even spritzed some spray for an afternoon nap and drifted off pretty quickly so I do credit this spray in knocking me out in the nicest way possible. Normally getting to sleep takes me a good 30 minutes and I experience some restlessness through the night, tossing and turning but the Sleep Plus Pillow Spray has surprised me. It’s amazing how uninterrupted sleep – even it’s less than 8 hours – has a profound effect on my mood the following morning (inclusive of the cat wake-up calls).

This won’t cure insomnia – that’s a disorder – but if, like me, you have trouble switching off and are terrible at putting your phone away, the Sleep Plus Pillow Spray could be very helpful. It’s certainly safer to relax the senses than burning a scented candle by your bedside.

It is on the pricey side however, at £25 for a 75ml bottle and I am not sure how long this will last if used every day but wow, I’m actually excited about going to sleep every night, knowing my head won’t be hitting my desk the next day. I think it will also be good to take on holiday to help sleep better in unfamiliar surroundings.

Sleep Plus Pillow Spray is available at Boots, Net-A-Porter, Look Fantastic, John Lewis, BeautyBay and at www.thisworks.com.
