Firstly, apologies for the delay here. This post was requested some time ago. The weekend just gone marked the first one since we returned from our honeymoon where I haven’t attended a wedding or a hen party. We’re back on the wedding circuit again on Saturday so it’s not over yet – still two more to go!
So here are some swatches of polish that has been hitting the rumour mill as a potentia duplicate of Chanel’s recent (and much coveted) release, Paradoxal.
Models Own Deep Purple on the middle and little finger. Nope. Although it doesn’t look like a bad dupe for Nubar’s Peacock Feathers. Hmm.
Models Own Purple Grey on the middle and little finger. It’s lighter than Paradoxal (although Paradoxal does look a hint darker here than it truly is), and is a 2D creme – no hidden shimmer at all. And in the early morning light of my kitchen, not a dupe, I’m afraid, people.
Nails Inc 80 Fulham Road on the middle and little finger. I had high hopes for this one, as they look so similar in the bottle. However, the Nails Inc is so thin and nowhere near as pigmented as the Chanel, although it does have bags of the hidden shimmer that is so elusive in Paradoxal. So, close but not quite there.
I then wondered what would happen if I layered 80 Fulham Road over Purple Grey (on the middle and little fingers). Although buying both of these just to franken would set you back £15, so you might as well buy the Chanel, I’m afraid! Sorry everyone!

BB Couture Incognito is a nicer polish than Paradoxal anyway! Not a dupe but the same family and more interesting.

I do LOVE the colour 🙂 Gonna be wearing it for a long time… I got it as a birthday present, but I think I would have gone for the Models Own grey purple – they’re quite cheap too! 🙂 xx
Dare2Wear Fortune is the closest dupe to Paradoxal – see swatch comparisons on MakeupAlley’s Nail Board.
I bought my first Chanel polish and this was it. Love this shade. Shame there isn’t a dupe for this. I hated putting the money out. I didn’t want to lose out like I did for Chanel’s Jade. I hated putting out that much money. Especially since I read they have a crap formula. I haven’t tried it yet. None of my polishes last long. I don’t know what it is. I use the base coat and top coat. I did buy the dupe for Chanel’s Jade which is Milani’s Dream Maker. I don’t know if it’s an exact match but I love it. Now that lasted 5 days with only a tiny chip on the edge of the nail. On the 5th day I was washing up vegetables and everything fell apart!

You are hard to stalk! My laptop wont remember forms so i have to enter shit out 100x I tend to silently browse you due to my extreme laziness.
Well i also got paradoxal and i dont know what to think! Its like.. do i reall want a varnish that i can only appreciate when I hold my hand up towards evening light at a 90degree angle!?
I also feel its a shade that needs the space of long nails to shine. On short nails it just does not impress me!
Thanks for this, very helpful for a muppet like me that was too late to the party. Based on this I shall not bother trying to get a dupe. For me it’s the shimmer that makes it so special. xx
