Roses are red, violets are blue and has L’Occitane got a fragrance for you. Good, eh? I just came up with that. Violette & Rose De Mai* eau de toilette is their new summer scent and I’ve not stopped wearing it since I got hold of a bottle of it. Created by perfumer Violaine Collas this limited edition fragrance has been exclusively designed to celebrate L’Occitane’s 40th anniversary.
Rose-based fragrances are my favourite so I had a very good feeling about Violette & Rose De Mai and my instincts were right: this is gorgeous. It’s also long-lasting. I spritzed some on my wrist and could smell it as I walked through the polluted streets of London. Well, it’s true – the Strand is full of cars and buses.
So what can you expect from this floral fragrance? It has notes of Bergamot, Rhubarb, Cassis, Mandarin Italy entwined with citrus orange. The heart has violette leaves with Rose De Mai from Grasse and Geranium Mediterranean and the warm base leaves a woody trail of santal and musk.
It’s a winner for me and if you feel persuaded, it’s available now online and in all L’Occitane shops and concessions priced at £52 for a 75ml bottle.
