The relief felt when you remove all remnants from the day with a cleanser is pretty special. When it’s a ruddy marvellous one, the feeling is somewhat euphoric. Maybe it’s just me but wiping my face clean with a hot flannel is so satisfying. It’s only then that I know and feel my skin’s been purified.
I’ve mentioned in previous ramblings that my favourite type of cleanser is melt-in-your-palm ones. Eve Lom’s and Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm both score highly in my books. Having grown accustomed to the properties of a balm cleanser, I am rigid about what makes for an effective one. However, I use these particular ones in the evening in the final stages of taking off my make-up and anything else my face has attracted like a magnet. In the mornings I do not and should not need to reach for either of these potent formulas, and instead a much gentler cleanser is the more sensible solution. That, ladies and gentlemen, is OSKIA’s Renaissance Cleansing Gel*.
This one has been knocking around for a while, embraced by beauty bloggers and industry experts, and it’s been on my list for quite some time (though out of stock whenever I remembered to buy it) but finally I have it and I have been using it for about a couple of months.
OSKIA’s Renaissance Cleansing Gel is a non-foaming, illuminating vitamin melting cleanser containing vitamins A, C and E plus Omega 6, Starflower Oil, Pumpkin Enzymes, Chamomile and Rose. Suitable for all skin types it is a peculiar pink/peach gel light in texture and smells delicious…a little bit like Turkish Delight. You smear a couple of pumps onto dry skin and then add water to emulsify before rinsing it off or using a flannel for good measure.
It is ideal as a morning cleanser because it’s extremely kind and gentle to the skin but it would also be more than adequate as a second cleanse in the evening. The other cleansers I mentioned contain far more rigorous ingredients and a stronger aroma but then they have their work cut out for the job they’re doing.
Using OSKIA in the mornings has left my skin and looking fresh and feeling soft without irritation or tightness. It also looks like my pores have been getting a deep cleanse too for they are less noticeable.
The pump is uniquely shaped and obviously hygienic and economical but its flaw is it’s not in a clear bottle so you can’t tell how much product is left inside. I’m now at the stage where I gasp and hope I still have another day left!
In terms of finding ‘the one’ for a morning cleanse, I think my search stops right now. I am struggling to pick a fault with the natural-based formula when it’s left me with nothing but happy, glowing skin. The packaging is a tiny whinge which is solvable. It’s really nice when you find something that you want to stick to. Ooh and it’s a home-grown British brand too.
