OPI – Ruble For Your Thoughts

I am loving the Russians at the moment. And I’m not even a Chelsea fan! It must be the time of year as every time my hand hovers over my untrieds to pick something out to wear, it seems to pounce on one of OPI’s Russian collection. You know, like those claw grabby machines at the fair.

rubleforyourthoughts1Anyway. Like Kreme de la Kremlin, this was a late addition to my Russian stash. We have a department store in our town that is independently owned and a bit strange. I don’t think it has stocked up on the OPI for months and months (they are still showing South Beach and India in pride of place) but once in a while I’ll uncover a total random. I’m still kicking myself for not bringing home My Chihuahua Bites when I clocked it there on at the weekend.

So. Ruble For Your Thoughts just conjours up “Funky Nan” to me. It’s  not really a very fashionable colour but if I saw it on a granny, I would think it lookedrubleforyourthoughts4 good.  It is, unsurprisingly, a bright copper colour, with flashes of peach and orange.

Application was a bit strange. This has the pro-wide brush and I found the polish to be a little bit on the runny side. Not a problem but I did have to keep dipping back into the bottle more regularly than I normally would. However, this is only two coats so once it’s on, it’s great.

I like this because although it isn’t duochromatic, it has tones of coral, copper, pink, gold and orange and has the teeniest tiniest microshimmer inside it to give it depth and interest.

rubleforyourthoughts2I think this would look good on most skintones as well. Granny or otherwise. Although I wasn’t really paying attention this morning and I am wearing a hot pink cardigan. That really doesn’t go well with this polish.

So all in all, whilst it’s not one I’d go to every day, this definitely has a place in my collection. Although I might want to save it for a few good years before bringing it out again.

Our giveaway closes in approximately half an hour. I will announce the winner tomorrow so stay tuned and good luck!

  1. Hmmm, I’m not sure about this one. It’s not one you see much on blogs so it is nice to see some good photos of it, but I don’t think it’s for me.

  2. Gorgeous! I love the Russian collection! I have Midnight in Moscow which I love. I want them all and I’m slowly collecting them! 🙂 x

  3. I realised that when I was looking for other pics of it – it’s not a common one. I liked it though – I like the shimmer.

  4. I love the Russians too! Can’t get enough of them at the moment. This is definitely OPI’s best collection (after Night Brights) I have a Midnight In Moscow vs ChG Lubu Heels comparison planned soon 🙂

  5. I have all polishes from Russian collection except Russian navy although this isn´t my favourite one (Siberian nights and Boris and Natasha are). I had it on my nails last december and because of your picture (perfect as always) I´d give it second chance.
Here in Czech republic is regular price for OPI nail polishes 12,5 GBP. I am very happy that we have transdesign and ebay!

  6. I know the department store you mean! It is v. random, but a lot better than it was when we were teenagers, though?

  7. I did pay full price for it. The more polish I buy, the more I think OPI is a little overpriced compared to some.

  8. £12.50! Woah – that is a lot. On average OPI here is £9-10.

I adore Boris & Natasha as well and plan on wearing it soon.

  9. I guess I must be a granny because I really love this one. I’m adding it to my long list of OPI’s. I love copper colored polishes. Looks lovely on you. Hope you changed your cardi so you don’t clash.
