Glacier Bay Blues was one of my earliest posts on Just Nice Things, way back in April 2009. Here’s my original review (with somewhat better photos)…

Glacier Bay Blues is from OPI’s Canada Collection. It is a very dark blue, with flashes of green. To be honest, I’m not certain to make of it. Coat one was a nice turquoise green but it was just too sheer. Coat two hid some of the green and brought out the blue. Coat three practically obliterated the green and covered
it up with navy blue.
What I found about this one was it was greeny round the edges where the polish was thinner. I’m a bit disappointed though as from the bottle colour I was expecting something a bit more beetley and with more duochrome. Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice enough colour but my gut feeling is that if you want a nice navy blue from OPI with a bit more impact, you’d do far better to get your mitts on Yoga-Ta Get This Blue from the India collection.
Maybe I’ll try it again in the winter, or to figure
something out where I can layer one coat of the nice turquoisey-dark green over another colour – coat one was a winner – I wonder how it’d work over black, or if that would drown it out. So, for the moment, although I know there’s more mileage in this polish, for the meantime I’m afraid that Glacier Bay Blues just leaves me a bit cold.
Hmmm. So has my mind changed since I last tested this out? A bit. One of my nail blogging friends recommended I try layering this over black, as apparently it makes the duochrome more apparent, and blow me down, she was right. It’s still not as flashy as some of the Nubar duochromes I have in my collection but I no longer feel disappointed. It’s a greenish-blue hybrid that isn’t overly eyecatching but is absolutely perfect for scratching the navy itch that I seem to have this winter. What do you think? Do you own this one?

Oh gosh that would be disappointing! Looks really interesting in the bottle, but on the nail it’s quite like OPI’s Ink, which is a great shade, but not what you would have been expecting. It’s pretty anyhoo!
