OPI Dress to Empress

This polish found its way to me courtesy of regular Just Nice Things reader Andrea, who was having a clear-out and knew I’d appreciate her cast-offs. And I really do!

Dress to Empress is from OPI’s 2005 Japanese collection, all of which has been discontinued as far as I am aware. I don’t own any others from this collection but I do quite fancy Color of the Zen-tury, so I am actively keeping an eye out for that on eBay and blog sales.

Dress to Empress is a gorgeously vibrant coral shimmer, the kind of shade that I absolutely crave in the Summer months for both fingers and toes. I wore this to a PR event in London and many people were commenting on how much they liked this and that they had similar shades so even though this one is six years old now, it’s still a popular colour and finish.

Dress to Empress is pretty sheer. I ended up layering it over a corresponding creme colour (my favourite cheap 2True cremes coming in handy yet again). This lasted perfectly. I wore it during the week of the Royal Wedding when we were out and about a lot (not attending the wedding, sadly) and it lasted for five days with no problem at all, although this might have had something to do with the 2True base coat as well. Fantastic.

It also looks utterly fantastic in the sun, with the bright light bringing out the pink and orange microshimmer in all its glory. I really love this polish. It’s not for the fainthearted as it is mega bright, but if you manage to track one down, I don’t think you’ll regret it. Thank you to Andrea for sending this my way!
