OPI Boris & Natasha

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I really do love OPI’s Russian Collection. I do think that it is my favourite, much as I love France and the varying Holiday collections.

I have worn this polish on a number of occasions as it never fails to please me. It is described as a “raisin” shade and I think that’s fairly accurate. The photos have picked up on the reddish undertones, but this is really a good balance of red and brown. It’s not the most unique shade in the world, but it’s a nice one.

I probably should have done three coats of this, but I wore this polish as part of the QuickDry Comparison post that I did last year, where I was testing  the topcoats out over two coats of an OPI creme. But it applies beautifully and I really cannot fault the appliation or the wear.

By the way, I was wondering who Boris and Natasha were. At first I was convinced they were something to do with the Romanovs, or some other notorious part of Russian history. But no, it transpires that Boris and Natasha were characters from the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon.

So now we know. Don’t say you never learn anything here.

What do you think? I know it’s not a “revolutionary” colour (ho ho) but it’s very nice indeed. The kind of shade you reach for when you dont really know what else to choose. Work appropriate and long-lasting.

I might have preferred a purple that is more like the colour of Natasha’s dress, but hey, I’m not really complaining.

  1. That is a really lovely colour. There were a lot of colours in this collection that I really loved the look of. It was before I really got into buying polish though and I have to say it’s a big regret.
    Thanks for sharing,

  2. I love Boris and Natasha! I love the coolness of this shade – there are a lot of browned berry shades that pull towards burgundy, but this has a hint of purple to it that I find does make it quite unique.

  3. OH my goodness! Even moose and squirrel couldn’t resist this shiny, seductive hypnotic, mesmerising shade and finally succumb to Natasha’s charm, grace, beauty and long nails! Will our hero’s surrender to Natasha ?….tune in tomorrow for “will Rocky cave” or “Bullwickle be dumb foundeder”. This shade looks awesome on your nails Helen :). Your long nails are gorgeous!

  4. I should have bought this for the name alone. I definitely was a fan of the cartoon show. I watched it every Saturday morning. I don’t think I own anything from the Russian collection. I hope this is still available.
