OPI A True Ab-Original

Good morning, everyone!

I have a cracker of a nail varnish for you today – OPI’s A True Ab-Original. This came to me by way of a swap I did with reader Katie and I am so glad I chose this one from her list of swap items as it is utterly gorgeous.

I’d read somewhere that this was a great polish to go with a suntan, so, navel gazer that I am, this had to be the first nail varnish I reached for when returning from my honeymoon in order to show off my Florida tan!

My only complaint is that this is a lot more sheer than you would expect judging from the bottle. I found it hard to eliminate the visible nail line and this was about five coats in the end. However, this dried a million times faster than the average OPI jelly so although the application took longer than anticipated, the drying time (with Seche Vite) was about the same as the usual three coats.

I absolutely love the colour of this. Not for the faint-hearted, A True Ab-Original is a hot mix of coral, orange and pink. The top photo shows it in artificial light, and the other one is in natural light.

It’s not a million miles away from OPI’s Shoot Out At The OK Coral, but I currently have the latter on my toes and I can safely say that it is a lot pinker than A True Ab-Original, which leans more to the reddy-orange side of the coral spectrum.

Sorry about the state of my hands by the way. They didn’t look great after a fortnight of very little love and attention when they were on holiday and I also managed to slice my middle finger somehow. All better now though. Also there’s some obvious tipwear here. All round, this is one that’s gone on the list for re-photographing.

So, thank you, Katie, for sending this my way. I have many OPI colours like this but they are all different in their own way and I can’t get enough.
