Whenever I review NYC polishes, I always feel a bit confused. They don’t seem to have any coherency when it comes to bottle shape, design or theme.
I can only presume that this one pre-dates the current shades named after places in New York, but perhaps comes after the square bottles of old. Any way, I don’t know how old this is. I’ve owned it for a few years, and never worn it until now.
I really don’t know how I feel about yellow polish. What I will say is that if you like it, this is a good one
to track down. Because its more of a jelly than a creme, it doesn’t have any of the streaking issues that are generally experienced with pastel yellow polishes. In fact, this applied absolutely perfectly and was opaque in three coats.
What I do like about this is the finish. It is a shimmery, pearlised affair. I think if I were to suddenly get an urge to wear a yellow (and I have to be honest, it hasnt happened yet), then I think I could manage this. It’s more like a buttercup yellow than a sickly pastel or an in your face neon. The shimmer makes it appear a bit more delicate and interesting.
Hmm. It’s an Easter manicure really, isn’t it? I don’t know if you could get away with it at any other time of year. What do you think? Are you a fan of yellows?

This is lovely. I will definitely get this. Thanks for doing some more ‘budget’ polishes recently. I am trying to curb my spending so this is helping a lot. The 2true you recommended are indeed excellent!
Helen, I think it’s Taxi Yellow Creme? http://www.nailgal.com/displayimage.php?pid=14127
I think it’s discontinued! I had been meaning to pick this color up for…a couple of years, but never got around to it, and then when I wanted it for sure I couldn’t find it. I found it at a Dollar Tree in a double pack the other day finally. For some reason, the d/c’ed colors don’t have names on them, only numbers. REALLY weird.
Anyway, LOVE this on you! I like the squishiness, and the shade. But I love yellows anyway! 🙂
I like this one, I’m almost convinced even I could wear a yellow like this. My olive skin doesn’t look great with yellow – I tried American Apparel Butter and it quite literally looked rancid on me.
Hmmm I’m never sure about yellow. It looks nice on you though and very Easter-y! I think for me yellow will just be for nail art!
I love yellows. I collect them but never wear them! This is a pretty one. Perfect for Easter.
a bit patchy but i can definitely forget that for the absolute bargain price. who needs chanel mimosa, hehe 🙂
