Nubar Unfaithful Red - Just Nice Things

Nubar Unfaithful Red

Read Time:1 Minute, 27 Second

Recently (well, OK, over Christmas), I went on a massive red kick. Something to do with the time of year probably, but even months after Christmas, I’m still loving the reds, so am working my way through the reds in my collection. In fact, I’m thinking about a red comparison post like the other ones I’ve done previously, but I know how much work that’s going to be, so I’m parking that for the meantime.

Unfaithful Red is one of those colours that look utterly snoozeworthy in the bottle, which is probably why I didn’t bother trying it out for over a year. It looks like a deep shade with gold veining. I have a million of these colours.

However…. once on the nail, something great happens. This actually transforms into a chrome type finish – almost metallic. There gold disappears, but I wasn’t worried about that really as the finished article is so spectacular. It’s a flawless, bright red that doesn’t shimmer or sparkle like so many other red polishes, it’s just pure shine and polish.

Application was fine and this was two coats. I didn’t use a topcoat as it dried fast. With hindsight I probably should have done as the wear wasn’t great here – I only got two days out of this before it was chipping and flaking away. It was such a quick and good-looking manicure though that I didn’t really mind.

So the moral of the story is not to judge a book by its cover, or a polish by the bottle. All too often we are disappointed by something that looks full of promise but doesn’t really translate on the nail, so it’s nice to have that happen the other way round for once.

Pretty red but I wish the gold showed on the nail. I love polish with gold shimmer . I do like Nubar polish. They always have wonderful shades.
