Nubar Paradise - Just Nice Things

Nubar Paradise

Read Time:1 Minute, 23 Second

Here’s a bit of a departure for me. I can’t remember the last time I wore such a “pretty” nail varnish. And Nubar’s Paradise certainly qualifies as that.

This is not one for someone who likes bold blocks of colour as it is far more subtle than that. It’s also really sheer. I ended up wearing this over a pale pink shade that I was already testing out as if you tried to build this up on its own, you’d not only be there forever, but you would also have a big gungy mess that would probably dent and take ages to dry.

Paradise is a very subtle duochrome. It’s slightly flashier in the bottle than it is on the nail, which is something of a disappointment.

However, like I say, if you’re into subtle pretties then you can’t really go wrong here. I would go as far as to say that it looks relatively work-appropriate.

In internal artificial light, this appears a rich dark gold. In fact, I put it on after dark and spent the best part of an evening searching for the pink. But then in daylight, the pink comes to the fore and you have to hunt for the gold. It’s a strange one – the duo isn’t as obvious as it is with other Nubar duochromes I have tried.

So in summary, it’s well made, and does enough to keep me interested. I would recommend it as a nice topcoat to jazz up a light polish that you might not have the time or the inclination to change. But is it an essential for your collection? I’ll leave that up to you.

Love this colour: it is really pretty and looks perfect for summer nude trends without being too flat. It has a bit more to it than a lot of the nudes.

Hello Helen, hmmm….I’m not sure if I “need” this polish in my collection. It’s certainly nice on the nails. I like the idea of using it to layer over a polish/varnish. By the way….I changed your web address on my blog list. I’ll see you around on-line.

This is a strange one indeed! Very pretty on you. I guess we should walk around with a head lamp on. Then when we want to see that pink we just switch on the lamp. I love duochromes. I’ve had some on that I loved and kept looking at my nails under the light.

I used to have a superdrug duochrome that was very similar, it was a bit of a go-to polish for years until they stopped making their ownbrand stuff!

It reminds me of one from Barry M. Did you not review that eons ago?

BBB – Thankyou for commenting! You’re right – it is very delicate and pretty and far more interesting than a nude shade.

Velvet – Hi! Thankyou for stopping by.

    Lucy – That’s such a funny image!

Luseyduck – I didn’t know Superdrug even had own brand stuff before! Nice to know there’s a dupe out there if you ever feel tempted!

Sheenie – yes I did indeed – well remembered. This is far sheerer but has a better finish than the Barry M.
