I originally did this to include in my December month of all things glitzy and glamorous but I ran out of space, so it’s being shown now. Nothing wrong with a bit of bling in February, is there?
Can you believe I don’t have many silver polishes? I should do really – all my jewellery is silver, I love silver make-up and Illamasqua’s Phenomena Liquid 
Metal is one of my favourite things ever. Yet I only have a few silver polishes.
Generally, silvers fall into one of two camps. Thin jellies that take forever to build, or harsh frosts that are just a mess of brush strokes. Sterling Silver is neither, as it is a foil.
As such, there is zero margin for error as every dent or inconsistency is highlighted with foil
polishes. The other slightly irritating thing about it was that despite rolling it between my hands to mix it up, it still contained blobs of undissolved metallic pieces.
Sadly, these didn’t disperse when I brushed it over my nail, so basically, this manicure looked awesome from a distance, but not that brilliant close-up. A bit lumpy and texturised maybe. Perhaps I got an off bottle? Either which way, it looks great from a distance, but it doesn’t have that smooth finish that perfectionists love.
It dried in seconds and this was only two coats.
However, like most foils, on the second day it didn’t chip exactly, but kind of splits vertically and cracks on the nail. It looked more and more like antique silver by the hour!
So, I’m still hunting for the perfect silver. Do you have any recommendations for me?
I’m looking for a good silver too. The only one I have at the moment is Nails Inc Kingly Street, which is lovely and sparkly.

I’ve got Leighton Denny Diamond Diva which I love.
I quite fancy some silver nails, might have to indulge later. I’ll put some pics up if I do. My nails are really rubbish though, they’re incredibly flakey so nothing lasts more than 24 hrs on me. I’m really hoping the Mavala nail system my mum bought me for Christmas, works as well for me as it did for Get Lippie cos Nail Envy certainly hasn’t.

But because it’s very fine glitter it’s not bumpy and there are NO brush-strokes. I’m pretty sure you have Disco Queen so think DQ only a very pale, fine silver.
I think your Sterling Silver looks good. Very good. I like the texture. Really lovely on you.

I have like 20 silvers went thru a silver collecting phase. I don’t even remember what one’s are fantastic now lol. But I know Color Club’s What a Drag is amazing and cheap also I have Revlon’s Lily chrome which is my all time fav! I have tons of these so if you like I can send you one!
Oh Helen,how I’ve missed you! I’m sorry that I’ve not stopped by more often. I hate it when I have a polish that looks great from a distance,but not close up. That’s how Courage from China Glaze’s Wizard of Oz release is for me. It’s all grainy and bumpy up close,yet looks gorgeous from a distance. Of course we can have some bling for February!
It may not be perfect but it does look pretty!
I love silver polish. Shame that you got an off bottle. Looks marvellous on you. They sure can be a pain to paint on your nails. Must be harder for you since you have so much length. Those silver and gold polishes are always hard to resist. You wouldn’t think there would be so many different shades and types of metals. You put them all together and they all look different.

Tempting but I’m scared of how the chrome would look on my battered nails.

Thanks Lucy. I don’t know if it’s an off bottle – more just to do with the application I think. Anyway, not everyone examines nail polish as close up as us obsessives do!
