Yesterday I joined fellow bloggers at Liz Earle’s flagship store in Chelsea for the launch of their new Botanical Shine haircare range. It felt like a secret members’ club as a small group of us were seated around a table, listening to the secrets unfold of Liz Earle’s most exciting launch since the infamous Cleanse & Polish, which is celebrating 15 years since its advent.
The naturally active haircare botanical shine shampoo and conditioner has been dubbed ‘Cleanse and Polish’ for the hair and has taken six painstaking years and over 100 formulas to come into fruition.
It’s taken this long to develop a product containing natural ingredients that performs in the way consumers expect a shampoo to from the scent right down to the foaming action. And it’s the voices of 20,000 customers who responded to a questionnaire from Liz Earle that this product has been created. It’s no wonder Liz Earle are bursting to tell us about it.
One shampoo has been developed for all hair types. This clearly implies how confident Liz Earle are in their product, just like Cleanse & Polish is for all skin types. Then there are three different conditioners, depending on your hair type – oily, normal and dry and they’ll work kindly on coloured and curly hair as well,
How the product works is taking a small amount of shampoo and rubbing it between your palms to activate a foam before applying to the hair. Normally we slap the shampoo straight onto soaking hair and build up a lather but this is not the step to take with Liz Earle’s shampoo. It’s a common belief to associate foaming with cleaning your hair so unless a shampoo does that, we won’t actually be convinced it’s cleaning the hair.
The other distinctive fact about this range is it doesn’t contain SLS and SLES, the ingredients used to create the lather but a nuisance as it interferes with sensitive skin. To combat this, Liz Earle uses a natural derivative in the form of coconut. Coconut, as you may know, is a fantastic ingredient for making hair strong, thick and glossy but it certainly was news to me that it also creates lather.
Shea butter is also a key ingredient, responsible for giving hair its natural shine, as well as apple and citris extracts to perfume the products.

With one shampoo working on these two extremes of hair types, giving high performance results to leave hair clean, hydrated and with high shine, it’s no exaggeration that this range is set to fly off the shelves.
The range launches on www.lizearle.com on 2nd September where at present you can pre-register online for it – 20,000 have already made their reservations.
It also goes on sale in its flagship London store and from its island store on the Isle of Wight simultaneously on 2nd September, followed by John Lewis on 6th September at the price of £7.50 for 200ml. There will also be travel-size bottles available at £4 each.

I can’t wait for this – not a fan of C&P but am liking the sound of the haircare very much.
I used it for the first time this morning and have noticed an amazing result. I will be blogging about the shampoo and conditioner very soon. I have a feeling that finally someone has cracked it with a shampoo I can use all the time without product building up and reverting my hair back to the old problems. Fingers crossed!
I am SO excited for this! I can’t wait!!
