Everyone has a signature scent. It’s that one fragrance that you become so attached to that you won’t even contemplate trying something else. In a way it becomes a part of your identity. Some of my friends will only wear one fragrance. I, on other hand, fleet between several depending on my mood and the season, but I will usually stick to one scent for a period of time.
Picking the right scent is by no means an easy feat. I would even say it’s impersonal if someone else is choosing it for you. I know what kind of fragrances I like – usually floral, sometimes spicey but almost, always I love to wear rose scented perfumes like Stella and Ghost, both of which I have repurchasesd several times. But the effects of wearing the same scent every day can wear off and it may not smell as good (if at all) or excite you as much as it used to.
When John Lewis got in touch as part of their #JLSignatureScents campaign and suggested refreshing my fragrance wardrobe by switching up to a different scent, I was ready for the challenge. Based on my most-worn, signature scent, one of their fragrance experts selected a new fragrance for me to try and I had absolutely no idea what they’d picked until I received a special delivery.
To my absolute surprise and delight, they’d chosen Tiffany & Co’s Eau de Parfum and their reasons were:
‘Tiffany is one of our latest new brands, and has become an instant classic. The fragrance embodies the iconic Tiffany, with a stunning bottle that is reminiscent of the iconic Tiffany Diamond cuts, with a flash of their trade mark Tiffany Blue. The fragrance is absolutely beautiful with patchouli, musky notes that denote femininity and strength. It’s sophisticated, just like your favourite Ghost.’
I am surprised and delighted because John Lewis has picked a scent I’ve fallen for. Tiffany captures the luxury, glamour and romance of New York City (a place I fell in love with at first sight). It’s a modern scent that opens with vibrant top notes of vert de mandarine and at its heart, the precious iris flower. The fragrance dries down to a sensual finish on the skin with warm nuances of patchouli wrapped in gentle musky notes. It oozes femininity with refinement and sophistication – such a description strongly resonates with me. To top it all, the crystal bottle recalls the iconic Tiffany Lucida and Tiffany Yellow Diamond cuts and is presented in the signature Tiffany Blue Box, iconic and instantly recognisable. Even the fragrance itself has a tinge of the Tiffany blue. I take great pleasure in wearing this every day, cocooned in its soft and sensual aroma. Thank you, John Lewis for awakening my senses to such a beautiful scent.
