Hello, it’s me. Remember? Yeah, I felt it was time to shoehorn in another ‘where am I?’ type posts. The past few months have been peppered with an electic mix of posts but not as often as I would have liked. Work is good, really good in fact and my office has moved to the west end so I’m ecstatic to be in a part of London with endless choices for food. It’s also handy all the beauty shops are a stone’s throw away.
Elsewhere in my life I’m busy project managing something major – a kitchen extension and home renovation. It started over three months ago and fingers crossed, should be finished next month. I’ve never done something like this before (if dad was here, he’d have helped) so it’s been a huge learning curve of what to think about when carefully designing a kitchen, submitting (and resubmitting) planning applications to the council, driving for miles to source the right interiors, units, appliances and everything else and dealing with builders (who are thankfully the best and no trouble or stress to me). I cannot remember when I last had access to a fully functional kitchen…maybe it’s was 6 to 8 weeks ago. All my gadgets, electricals and cooking utensils are in boxes in every room, and I haven’t been able to use a dishwasher in the duration the old kitchen was torn down. First world problems, eh? Actually it’s been absolutely fine. It’s amazing how you adapt to changes and what you can do with a portable electrical hob. Yes, the house looks like a building site but the sacrifices and patience will be worth it. I cannot wait till it’s all complete.
It’ll be a year on 23rd September since my dear dad passed away and I can’t process where the year has gone. This time last year, I could never have imagined I would be in the position I am today. Losing dad and the last few months has made me re-evaluate my priorities and goals. Going forward, things are going to be different on Just Nice Things and the past few posts should give you a clue about the direction I will be going in.
By the way, new hurr and flame coloured too – do you like?
