IllamasquaGreen2

Good evening all! I have lots and lots of things to bring you but I thought it is such a long time since I have done something make-up related that I would bring you some eyes.

IllamasquaGreen3As you know, I am totally obsessed with Illamasqua’s pure pigment eyeshadows. I now own six of the little beauties. Three of them are in various shades of green, so I thought I’d see what happened if I mixed them all up.

Clockwise L-R: Conquer, Lust and Chasm.

These powders are packed with pigment and go on beautifully. I’ve mentioned before about how much I love the little dispenser these have, to dip the brush in and get just the right amount ready – no more glittery cheeks! ombredeau

I hit on a great idea recently. In order to build up some real depth of colour, I decided to bring out my trustly old Chanel Ombre D’eau eyeshadow. I adore this stuff. A mix of powder and water, it goes on like a cream, and dries to a perfect, glimmery creaseless finish. In fact, before I really got back ombredeau2into dramatic make-up, I used to wear this on its own every day.

I think these come in blue and pink, but this is a great neutral beige, called Sand.

So I decided to use this as primer for my Illamasqua pigments, and I was really happy as it works perfectly and has amazing staying power. Poor expensive Chanel being used as an eyeshadow primer! Oh well, it’s better than the Urban Decay that hurt me.

IllamasquaGreen4Putting the pigments over the Chanel swatch, you can see that they grip to it nicely, meaning you can build up colour completely effortlessly. From top to bottom: Lust, Chasm and Conquer.

All the shades have a strong silver tint to them, meaning they shimmer and sparkle beautifully.

I used Chasm over the eyelid. I’ve heard this compared to a mermaid’s tail before and I think that is spot on. It is a gorgeous shimmery blue-toned green. I then put Conquer into the crease as it is a darker, more forest toned green, perfect for adding definition. Lust was used as a highlighter in the centre of the eyelids, plus a little in the inner corners.

I’m not certain that black mascara and eyeliner was the best for this look – next time I’ll be trying dark brown I think. Oh, and sorry but you don’t get a full face – I’d just got out the shower after going on the cross trainer…and you all know red and green should never be seen!

  1. I adore that shade of green and it looks so pretty with your eye color. I have brown eyes too and I think those shades of green with brown, as well as shades of teal with brown look really nice together. Your eyelashes are so long and pretty!

  2. Meow! The cat eyes are back, and I love it! Such beautiful colors. Clever idea to use the Chanel as a primer. I use green shades of eye shadow a lot, with a dark brown eye liner. But the black liner looked great too.

  3. Hi Helen,

I just love those greens, so pretty! You have such loooong lashes so jealous.

Also, congratulations on the engagement I am so happy for you!!! (^-^*)>

P.S. How do you pronounce Illamasqua?!

  4. Love the greens….make blue eyes pop! Even just using some green to line the top lid is enough to bring them to life! I also love Chanel….my favourite mascara is the Inimitable and their bronzer is fab!

  5. Hi Mary,
Green eyeshadow is a little out of my comfort zone but I loved this look and will be wearing it a lot more often from now on! And thankyou – I owe it all to Max Factor Masterpiece!

  6. Meow! I really need to get a brown liner and mascara set – I just felt the black was a little bit harsh on the glimmery green.

  7. Same here Brooke! I find myself reaching for the green when I’m bored of my everyday purples and browns.

  8. I don’t have any other Chanel stuff apart from a metallics eye palette that is just toooo beautiful to use (daft eh) and a couple of nail polishes. I like the way that green seems to suit everyone.

  9. Hi Tali! I hope you had a good trip.
Yes – its great, either on its own, or, as I discovered, as a primer! I love multi-purpose products!

  10. Gorgeous eye makeup! I love the greens. I find myself wearing more greens than anything else. I used to wear mostly purples. I dont’s know what it is, green eyemakeup and green nails! I bought The Kat von D eye palette named Gypsy. It’s availavle at Sephora. There are the most beautiful greens in there. They have the most beautiful golden sheen to them. Can you get this?
