Got your sunglasses? Good, because this one is bright!
Fern is an Illamasqua I have been hoarding for a while and not got round to trying yet, but with August due to be over in just a few days, I thought I had better step on it. Yet another British summertime has passed in a flash of lightening. Literally. I think we’ve had about three weeks of sunshine, mainly when I’ve been stuck in the office.
So, to business. Fern is a bright, bright blue. It has particles of silver shimmer in it, that really come alive under the light (or praise be, some sun!)
It is very, very pretty, and certainly eyecatching. I wasn’t overly comfortable with it on my hands but I think it would be gorgeous on toes.
Application was ok – it is thinner than the other Illamasquas I have tried, and this needed three coats. The consistency was fine but it was a little slow to dry. Hence the dings you see – not the fault of the polish, more my fault for trying to do stuff too soon afterwards.
Here’s the close-up. You can see the silver shimmer here – very pretty and eyecatching.
So what do you think of the blue? It’s pretty failsafe for those of you who love the brights but for me it might take a bit of getting used to!
In other Illamasqua news, eagle eyed readers will know that the company are on the verge of launching their Autumn/Winter range, Dystopia. I’ve been privileged enough to be invited to a blogger exclusive event in London next Thursday for an introduction to the range, and hopefully a sneak preview of the marketing and products. I am extremely excited about this and have to take my hat off to Illamasqua for the way they have embraced us humble bloggers.
I’ll be sure to report back afterwards to give you all the lowdown. And if any readers are also attending, please drop me an email as I’d love to meet you!
Oh cool! Can’t wait to see the collection!!
I bet Fern would look just as pretty on an icy day with silver french tips.
The event sounds fantastic. I can’t wait to hear your account of the experience.
Fern is beautiful. I thought it would be green. I think they are messing with my head. Anyone comment on your nails. They must look amazing in person. You have to get used to different colors Helen. Your going to be a married lady soon enough. So get wilder! Wish I was flying over with a few of my friends (Brooke, Mary and Kitty) to come to the event with you. It would be a fun time. Can’t wait for your report. Take plenty of pictures. Especially take some more of you this time!
How exciting! Can’t wait to hear about it! Love the polish very pretty!
Lol! I agree with Lucy I thought this might be more green too! And I would love to go to an event with all of us!!!!!
I love this colour! It’s a very ‘glittermillie’ colour 🙂
Ooo have fun at the event! That’s so cool! Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Loving that colour a lot
This is a very very pretty blue Helen, I want to see moreee! I am going to have to try some of their shades this holiday from sephora I think.
Me either! I’ve seen a couple of sneak previews on the Illamasqua blog and I am very excited about it all!
I think you’re right – I may try that out later in the year.
Indeed! I’ll write it up the next day, I promise.
I thought it should be green too. I might ask them at the event where they get the names from!
I’m trying to get wilder! I’m wearing the Nubar green holo today if that counts?
Ohhh I really wish you could all come over!
I thought you’d like this one!
how cool would that be? The International Nail Blogger Convention!
You should definitely get this one!!
Good – I’ve never seen any old ladies in tights this colour, hehe 😉
I have a few more to bring you. I can’t believe you haven’t hit Sephora for some yet!
