A few nights ago I saw fab blogger (and Cosmo awards finalist) London Beauty Queen post up a pic of her nails on Twitter. They looked so good that I immediately begged her for a guest post on what she’d had done, and happily for readers of Just Nice Things, she obliged…..
I love painting my nails. I love the feeling of putting on a fresh coat of polish and sitting like a demented duck waiting for it to dry. The challenge of avoiding smudging, scraping or generally damaging the perfection is always a large one, and one which I have yet to accomplish without the need so sit like a bird. However, all my worries may have been pushed aside with my latest discovery from Nail Rock. These fab ‘sticky nails’ mean that you not only look fab, but you save a heap of time, effort and cotton wool.
Nail Rock is the brainchild of Zoe Pocock, who’s spent many a fashion show painstakingly applying nail varnish to models only to have them scrape them on their £5000 dresses. She came up with the idea of sticking on nail designs and has been using them ever since backstage all over the world. It’s so quick and easy to achieve unique, on-trend and impactful nails – I had the pleasure of Zoe doing my talons and it took her ten minutes tops.
The nail stickers come in packs of 24, not dissimilar from the way false nails are displayed. All you need to do is buff your nails to remove excess oil, pick the nail that’s the best fit (trimming with clippers if necessary,) stick it centrally at the bottom of your nail, apply heat for a few seconds using a hairdryer and smooth it out into place. Voila! This is so simple that even your Nan could do it (no offence intended if any Nans are reading this!)
The nails last up to 7 days… mine lasted 4 before starting to peel around a couple of the edges and annoying me, but I could’ve kept them on longer. To remove them you simply apply heat again and peel them off, leaving a little adhesive which is easily removed with nail polish remover and a good buff. This is such a great idea and left me feeling super glam. The nails come in so many varieties, including lace, animal print, polka dots, baroque and zips, that there’s something for everyone and every occasion. If you suffer from damaged nails these are also great at covering every lump and bump, giving you super sexy, smooth nails.
Nail Rock are available from Topshop and ASOS (seal of approval there!) priced at £6.50 for a pack of 24 nails. The best use of your pennies for a long time.
