guest review: GOSH Yellow Bombay - Just Nice Things

guest review: GOSH Yellow Bombay

Read Time:2 Minute, 2 Second

Here we have another reader review from Britny. Thank you, Britny for an honest and upfront post! Got to say, this one isn’t tempting me…

Well, here it is my first ever really bad GOSH colour experience. I was feeling all summery and cheery having bought my bright yellow convertible car I wanted some bright sunny nail polish, I spotted Yellow Bombay and it looked like a really nice bright yellow/gold with glitter in it. Seemed like just the thing for a nice top down drive in my car.

Oh how deceiving the bottle can be! The first coat looked like an unhealthy urine sample and was very sheer; I thought that perhaps a couple more coats would give me the lovely bright yellow in the bottle.

After 3 coats I was sadly disappointed, the colour was still quite sheer and a bit streaky. The colour was very disappointing (in fact it would be more apt to say the colour was completely vulgar). The final colour looks like a really cheap curry sauce that has separated and gone a bit oily.

I really can’t think of anything positive to say about the colour and can’t imagine that it would look good on anyone. As for the glitter it really doesn’t show up very well at all, you have to squint and roll your fingers about to see it. I really hope the person who came up with this colour got fired because I can’t begin to fathom what possessed or inspired them to create it.

Application was unusually poor for GOSH. The polish was very watery and runny making it hard to apply and it had a tendency to run and streak quite badly. It is also quite dull, even a layer of Seche Vite failed to make it at all shiny.

I don’t think this colour will ever see my nails again. It actually looks better in the photos than it did on my fingers. I wish I had managed to capture a shot that showed just how awful it was.

On a positive note the bottle wasn’t all sticky with tape or gloopy but then maybe that is because no one would have been mad enough to open the bottle and apply a sneaky coat of it!

Cheap curry sauce – love that description! Thankfully I’ve never be tempted to pick this one up as I was convinced it would be awful with my skintone, turns out it’s prob. awful with everyone’s skintone!

That is completely unappealing on the nail. If it looks good in the bottle though (which it does) why not layer it over a nude? Worth a try?
I only have one yellow and I haven’t tried it yet. I want it to work even though nearly all yellows get bad press so I might follow my own advice.
Idea for a post – yellows that do what they say on the “tin”.

Poor you with horrid curry sauce on your fingers! I just had to laugh because it is awful looking. Urine sample amped up. Ick!

LMAP @ “urine sample amped up” – so true! This is possibly the ugliest nail lacquer colour I’ve ever seen. Britny, you brave lady!

Sheenie I would say stupid rather than brave lol and you know what was worse the damn stuff wouldn’t chip even after days.

Jenni I have to confess to not owning a single nude.

Lucy I have seen healthier looking urine samples handed in at work lol.

Think I need to see other people’s yellows tested before I risk another lol
