When Kelly from Vampy Varnish approached me for a swap, this was the polish that I immediately asked for in return. And she got it for me – how cool is that?

lemonbalm2Especially as Lemon Balm is a limited edition polish. Created exclusively for the US outlet Nordstrom, Lemon Balm is my first Dior polish!

Application wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped, for a $20 polish. The brush wasn’t tapered enough and left me with sooo much clean-up to do. Plus it pooled on the stick part of the brush.

But it didn’t matter as the consistency is perfect. Two thin coats and I had no bald spots or dragging.

The blurb describes this as a “unique purple platinum”. It must be pretty unique, as a) I don’t own anything like it, and b) it’s kind of more brown than purple!

In direct sunlight it did catch some mauve shades but generally I saw it to be more of a brown/grey with lovely gold and pink shimmer streaking through it.

Wear was brilliant. I took these photos lemonbalm3on the fourth day, and wore it for five. Just the slightest bit of tipwear. In fact, it could have gone for longer, but I was worried about neglecting you readers  by not having enough swatched!

So there we have it. Thankyou Kelly for sending this on to me. It has gone Top Five as far as I am concerned. Perfectly autumnal, and totally unique.

You can also read Kelly’s review of Lemon Balm (and admire her excellent photos of it) here. And I’ve just done a quick check on Nordstrom, and as luck would have it, Lemon Balm is still available for you American ladies prepared to get your skates on!

  1. Looks gorgeous on you. Where is the purple? I’ve never owned any Dior or high end polishes. I wonder are they really worth it? I get myself in enough trouble with all the rest of the polishes. A girl can dream! I’m so happy that you got the polish you wished for. That’s some amazing wear youve gotten from that polish. If all of Dior, Chanel, etc. wore like that it would be worth buying.

  2. Wow! I have been looking metallic nail color like this – I have to say, you’ve created a giant lemming for me! Thanks for the post – it really is beautiful.

  3. This reminds me of one of the new Nails Inc ones, I think it’s called Belgravia. I suppose I’ll have to make do with it anyway!

  4. It looks fabulous on you! So glad you like it. I think it’s a shade I’m gonna be wearing a lot this fall because it’s so fall appropriate 🙂

  5. Lucy, there are very infrequent flashes of purple but not so you’d notice really.

This is the first Dior I’ve tried. I have a few Chanels but have never rated them really – thick and chippy. The Dior is a whole different story though.

  6. To be honest, it is more brown. As you can tell. I don’t mind though – I have enough purples and I am very happy with this!

  7. No words? My goodness. Glad you like it, even if it has rendered you mute!

Ladies, I think we have a hit with this one. Nice one, Dior.

  8. I like the fact that you don’t mind saying if something isn’t to your taste. It makes it more interesting and I always prefer people to be honest.

  9. You should check it out, I got the new autumn/winter set of 4 colours for £20, they’re usually £10.50 each! There is a lovely dark grey in it.
