When I think of Kanye West, I think ‘What an arrogant prick’. I also think of one of his best songs ‘Gold Digger’, which is also the name of this nail colour (albeit with a slightly different spelling) from Ciaté, a British brand of nail varnishes of the high end of the beauty market. Quirky names just adds that extra something – Barry M, take note. Ciaté Paint Pots are also Formaldehyde and Toulene free so that’s good news for you health conscious beauty freaks.
This gold glitter number is one of the shades from their metallic range and seeing as I’m fond of a bit of glitz and shimmer, my eyes went for this one immediately.
As appearances go, the bottle itself is very cute and unique, notably the tiny black bow added for the finishing touch. A slender shaped long handle for the brush makes it much easier to hold as you apply coats of the varnish.
I opted for the standard two layers which was sufficient enough for a deep coverage. The application was smooth and it dried very quickly. I topped it with a coat of Ciaté’s Speed Coat (£10.50), which claims to be a fast drying top coat. Actually it is but not only that, it didn’t streak the colour of the nail varnish.
Check out the rich deepness of the colour on the right – you can see tiny speckles of glitter! The quality is distinguishable and at £9 a pot at 13.5ml, it’s slightly cheaper than OPI but no way inferior. The only downside is Rod Stewart’s daughter, Kimberly endorses Ciaté. Really Ciaté, shame on you.
Having said that, I’m already curious to try the Fashionista Sister and Strictly Legal colours from the Metallic Collections. With 35 colours to choose from, I hope Ciaté will expand their range to accomodate more shades for nail polish addicts like myself and Helen.

Those bottles are both cute and elegant! That’s a great shade of gold and I love the sparkle in it. Very nice.
Hi Sheenie! I love these bottles, how cute! That color is so glamorous, I love it 😀
Ooh that colour is fab really loving that. Also interested in what you say about the top coat, I find my OPI one melts the polish and ruins the effect somewhat after application.
So far the top coat worked well – no melting but it will be interesting to see how it works with more deeper shades like the red one I have from Ciate. 🙂
I must be the only person who doesn’t like the bottle (hides face in shame ha) I like contemporary looking things and its a bit “twee” for me! Love the shade of gold though I have Glitteratti which is nice but even with a top coat after a day or so it gets a little rough round the edges! The colours are lovely though! My new box of Nails Inc arrived and I am loving the St John’s Wood which is a great bluey purple! Wish I could post a pic to show you guys the colour! I haven’t worn a gold tone for ages and you’ve put me in the mood!!!!!
I really like the metallic finish. It looks quite a warm gold in the picture – is it warm in real life too?
“The only downside is Rod Stewart’s daughter, Kimberly endorses Ciaté. Really Ciaté, shame on you.” hahahaha, I about fell out of my chair when I read that.
It’s a pretty color…I love the cute bottles. It looks a lot like Zoya Richelle, though, a color which looked horrid on me :X
It’s exactly how you see it in the pictures, Grace – no distortion whatsoever. I’ve taken all my photos with an SLR so rest assured you won’t be fooled. 🙂
Don’t get me started on useless offspring of famous people! 😉
I love dark golds like that. And the Ciate bottles are sooooo adorable!
Jamie West is also a tad arrogant, so I hear… but it’s a great tune. Great polish too – looks awesome on you. I like! And yeah, the topcoat is awesome, I was very happily surprised.
Don’t you mean Jamie Foxx?
I just snorted when I read about Kanye West! You are funny Sheenie! That is a gorgeous gold. I love the bottles with it’s little bow. Sort of reminds me of Goldy from Zoya. I just took that off. A gorgeous warm gold. That is very lovely on you. So rich looking. I agree with you about Kimberly Stewart! Ugh. I’d rather her father wear the nail polish than her.
Ha ha, thank you Lucy. If I can throw in some entertainment at the same time, it’s all good. Funnily enough I was flicking through an old magazine today and it featured the Stewart clan on holiday and yes, Kimberly tagged along in a silver lame long dress. Eek!
