When I think of Kanye West, I think ‘What an arrogant prick’. I also think of one of his best songs ‘Gold Digger’, which is also the name of this nail colour (albeit with a slightly different spelling) from Ciaté, a British brand of nail varnishes of the high end of the beauty market. Quirky names just adds that extra something – Barry M, take note. Ciaté Paint Pots are also Formaldehyde and Toulene free so that’s good news for you health conscious beauty freaks.
This gold glitter number is one of the shades from their metallic range and seeing as I’m fond of a bit of glitz and shimmer, my eyes went for this one immediately.
As appearances go, the bottle itself is very cute and unique, notably the tiny black bow added for the finishing touch. A slender shaped long handle for the brush makes it much easier to hold as you apply coats of the varnish.
I opted for the standard two layers which was sufficient enough for a deep coverage. The application was smooth and it dried very quickly. I topped it with a coat of Ciaté’s Speed Coat (£10.50), which claims to be a fast drying top coat. Actually it is but not only that, it didn’t streak the colour of the nail varnish.
Check out the rich deepness of the colour on the right – you can see tiny speckles of glitter! The quality is distinguishable and at £9 a pot at 13.5ml, it’s slightly cheaper than OPI but no way inferior. The only downside is Rod Stewart’s daughter, Kimberly endorses Ciaté. Really Ciaté, shame on you.
Having said that, I’m already curious to try the Fashionista Sister and Strictly Legal colours from the Metallic Collections. With 35 colours to choose from, I hope Ciaté will expand their range to accomodate more shades for nail polish addicts like myself and Helen.
