Ciate Cookies & Cream

Read Time:1 Minute, 8 Second

It’s been a while since I tried a Ciate Paint Pot, so when I spotted that the fabulous Cosmetic Candy was selling a few on her blogsale recently, I couldn’t resist but to grab some.

I’d had a bit of a lemming for Cookies & Cream when it was doing the rounds of various other blogs last summer. I like the fact that it’s nude without being flesh coloured, and has enough grey and pink in it to be flattering to practically any skintone.

Application was brilliant. I approached this with some caution as to me, Ciate creme polishes have always been somewhat thick and hjard to work with. Yet this was pretty much opaque in one coat. You need to work really fast though as it dries so fast. I also wore this for four days, and although I got some tipwear by day three, there were no chips, and I still felt sad to take it off.

I coulddn’t resist trying a little Konad on this, and, smudging aside, I really love this look. I’m not sure the kind of skintone you’d need for this to be a “mannequin hand” but actually I prefer that this doesn’t give you mannequin hands – it’s grey enough to stand out and look different.

So what do you think? Are you a fan of the opaque nude look?

  1. Whilst not a big fan on “Konad” I do really like the simplicity of this along with the tones…..really fab! But this is when I get really anal and I apologise in advance, but I would so have to have all my nails at the same length so I got the exact same amount of effect down each nail….I told you I was anal I can’t help it! Perhaps I have a touch of the OCDs around me cos I like things all equal and have to stop myself from measuring distance all the time lol Anyway, great base colour too!

  2. I’m not a Konad-woman but this one I DO like.
I’m not into nudes either but that Ciate has a fab name and has enough grey to make it “not-a-nude”. I would wear it.

Read Liz’s response. She’d not approve of my nails. I often deliberately leave the little fingernail a lot longer than the others. But we all have OCD to a greater or lesser degree. I have to have things on my desk at right angles and in piles even though I never check the piles or order them…Oops.

  3. Not a fan of this colour, but the pattern looks cool! My personal nail quirk, since we’re all sharing them, is that I can’t stand having long thumbnails – they get cut about three times as often as all the other nails…

  4. Liz, I’m the same, my nails have to be the same length! I’m not really a nudes person, as you know Helen, but this is a nice one on you, probably due to the grey and pink as you say. I’m yet to try Ciate, nothing has stood out enough for me yet.

  5. I don’t know if I like this shade. It’s maybe a little to grey for me. I know you like the mushroom sort of shades. Looks nice on you and love the pattern on the side of your nail. Pretty but not for me.

  6. I am obsessed with symmetry. It’s ok that my nails are different lenths (well, were) but they need to be the same length on the opposite hand. It makes no sense.

My OCD is more about switching stuff off and locking the door. The horrors.

  7. I’m rapidly concluding that it’s the UK beauty bloggers that like the nude or mannequin type shade and that actually the nail obsessives don’t really care for it all that much. More colour required!

  8. […] Also, it is quite hardwearing. I kept this on for four days and experienced no chips. It’s like glue. The colour is not a bad looky-likey for some shades from the more expensive brands such as Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Grunge or Ciate’s Cookies and Cream. […]
