Sheenie already blogged about Ruby Pumps here, and I wasn’t planning on getting it myself. Yet the more I looked at China Glaze’s Loves You Snow Much Christmas collection, I decided I couldn’t allow my stash to be deprived of it much longer.
I don’t actually have many words. I know you’ll have read about this on umpteen blogs, and most of you probably already own it. But I never get tired of looking at it.
Ruby Pumps (what the hell are pumps anyway? to me, they are the things you stop by when you want to fill up your car) is Emerald Sparkle‘s identical twin in terms of finish and consistency.
I’d always thought it was a tad orange from the other pictures I’d seen of it, so I decided to paint it over a
vampy dark shade (I can’t remember what) and it took a lot of the orange out of it, just leaving me with a darker, richer red sparkle.
The glass flecks look trapped under the glossy surface and really are identical to Dorothy’s ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz.
I wore this with a black dress to a black tie do last week and felt very grown up. I loved the way it looked all 3D and multi-dimensional.
This was two coats and removal was a breeze. I think because it is glass flecked rather than glitter, so a slightly more vigorous wipe than usual was all it took to take it off.
I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but this polish is amazing, stunning, and all the rest of it.
If you don’t own it yet, why on earth not??

looks beautiful helen!! I always thought “pumps” is a weird name for heels!! who the hell came up with that??!! makes me think of Amy Winehouse’s “F*** Me Pumps”
LOL! I love you!!! This looks amazing on you long nails!!!
That looks so pretty, I really want to get a red sparkly polish as it seems the time to wear it, and that looks like it fits the bill!
I love this polish, I really don’t wear it often enough. I think your photos have encourged me to wear it this weekend!
Pumps are plimsolls.
I have this. It goes on so easily.
Amazing the way the glitter is in it or even under it and not on top of it. I have the Essie version too and that is more gritty. I put this over CG Cherry Crystal to save it. That way I use only one coat. I would put it over black or anything pretty much. It is high quality.
Liking this one a lot! I have the budget version though so shouldn’t start getting cravings…
I’ve never thought of putting this over anything. Good idea! Looks fantastic on you. I bet you dazzled everyone with your amazing nails. I bought this and Emerald Sparkle last year. I don’t have the other two that comes in the pack. I do have many gold and silvers of many finishes. So I thought I would skip this kit.
Oh yeah, I put a coat of this over Kinky In Helsinki and it worked a treat!
Glad to see you caved and got this baby – I have never seen pics do it the justice it deserves though – it is just amazing in person isn’t it? Looks really good on your claws and I give it two preciousssss slinks up! 🙂
I LOVE Ruby daft word Pumps. When I wear it I can’t stop looking at my nails!
I took my bottle into work today as I had been talking to the girls about my favourite polishes. They both adored it. Happily they are nail polish crazy too!
