Chanel Blanc Ceramic meets GOSH Rainbow

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you had a fabulous New Year’s Eve and have a wonderful 2010 in store.

I wanted my first post of the year to be something bright and white, like a clean slate. I am sure all of you are making resolutions (that may or may not be kept) and making bold and ambitious plans for the year. My plans are simple. To work hard and beat this recession, and to have a wonderful wedding in June, and to subsequently be a good wife. Fair enough, I think.

So, here’s an ancient polish from the vault.

I think this was a limited edition release from about three years ago, along with Noir Ceramic, which I also have and love completely.

Chanel’s Blanc Ceramic is a very very sheer white polish (worn here over my staple white base coat of OPI’s Alpine Snow) that I’ve had in my collection for over three years now.

It’s a very pretty, girly shade. It is kind of lustrous and pearly, with a light pink shimmer which prevents it from looking too stark or plain.

You really do need to use this as a layering polish though as trying to build it up is just going to lead to a gungy, wet mess. In fact, it doesn’t really look great here, and this was three coats.

To jazz this up a little bit (as we can still feel festive on New Year’s Day, right?) I added a layer of GOSH Rainbow polish. I adore this polish. It is iridescent jelly with pink, yellow and peach coloured flakies. Sooo beautiful.

In fact, I can’t believe I didn’t buy it sooner. It’s just as pretty as any Nfu-Oh I’ve seen. I want to use this over every polish I wear – I’m addicted!

One other resolution for you.

I am changing my posting frequency to once every other day.

Really, I enjoy bringing you your daily nail posting, but when you think that I pay retail prices for pretty much everything you see here, I can’t sustain a post a day at the moment – not when there’s some serious saving going on for our wedding.

Plus sometimes I’d like to wear a nail varnish for longer than a day.

Don’t worry though, I’m not going anywhere and still have plenty to bring you.

So, here’s to a healthy, happy and prosperous 2010! Cheers!

  1. Really love the GOSH polishes wish they would get there act together and have the whole range easily available here.

  2. Thank you for all your lovely photos and info. It will be a shame not to be able to look forward to a post every day but quite understandable why you can’t do it. I don’t know how you daily bloggers manage it!
I love GOSH Rainbow. It’s the only polish I had to get back-up for. I have it on now over Aztec Gold and it’s fabulous. I too am tempted to put it over absolutely every bloomin’ polish I ever put on.
    HNY!

  3. Happy New Year my twin! I hope 2010 is a great year for you and as you said, it does promise exciting things (like that wedding!! woooo hooo 🙂 ) I like the Chanel polish but what a stunner that Gosh flakie is! Think of every other day posting this way: you’ll get to test out the wear on stuff now!!!

  4. Happy New Year!!
May 2010 bring all of us lots of beautiful affordable perfectly applying no chip NP, healthy nails to wear it on, and loving ppl around us to adore it!

Love that Gosh Rainbow – it is so bjoot irl, with so much more colour in it! I keep giving away every single one I own though…:D. Guess I’ll have to make do with the Nfus instead (well how bad is that?!)

Love the green OPI btw, thanks for shipping it so fast!
And I personally would rather see a very happily stressless Helen than a new post every day! So take it easy, love you and your blog regardless of frequency!

  5. I love the Chanel polish!

Totally understand the posting every other day thing! As you probably know I’m a newbie to your blog, only been reading about three weeks or so but am enjoying trawling back and making lists of polishes I want, very happy to have found your blog, love it! 😀

Hope you had a great new years 🙂 xxx

  6. Thanks Jen.
I’d love to post every day but need to slow if down a bit for fear of running out of stuff (this way I’ve got at least six months worth!)

You were the one that inspired me to buy Rainbow and I also got a backup!

  7. Ahhh Roze thankyou so much! Am really glad that the OPI arrived there safely too. Hurrah!

Ahhh I have plans to get Nfus as well. One day!

  8. Hi and welcome! I’m really glad you like the blog – it’s so nice to get feedback from our readers.

  9. Very pretty look with the Gosh layered on top. I like to look at older polishes if you have them. There are many that I’ve never seen swatched. How could you possibly keep up with a new polish a day. That’s way to expensive. You have that wedding to be paying for. I love reading you everyday but I don’t expect a new polish every day.

  10. I bought Rainbow at the weekend! It just looks like plain gold leaf over Barry M Bright Red (which is what I happened to be wearing) but I’m looking forward to trying it over other colours, including ones where it will show properly for a photo…
