BB Couture Union Square

I love this nail varnish. I don’t think I can say it any more emphatically than that. If I were another nail varnish, I would want to marry it and have its babies.

Union Square is another of the BB Couture collection that was designed by Kelly of Vampy Varnish. It’s a stunner. I can best describe this as a hybrid between Dior’s Lemon Balm and Models Own Champagne.

It is an utterly gorgeous frosted brown that has a hint of grey to it. It looks silver in my photos. Why is that?? It’s quite bronzey / pewter-ish. Seeing this on the nail surprised me as I thought it was going to be lighter than it as, but actually that doesn’t mean I was disappointed at all – far from it.

I’ve read elsewhere that this applied in one coat. Not so much for me – I needed two to make it opaque but really this isn’t an issue as it covers beautifully and the application is better than any metallic polish I have ever used as there was no pooling or dragging. However, I have learned my lesson from other foil varnishes and didn’t use a fast drying topcoat on this, as I know they do funny things to metallics. I just let this dry on its own and do its own thing.

I love this (did I say that?) It has flecks of gold and silver sparkle to it and like I say, absolutly no brush strokes or problems at all. It is such a “me” colour and for me is definitely up there with my favourites in the collection.

Whilst I might not wear some of the glitters or greens in the collection every day, I can see Union Square being a real go-to shade for me. And you can’t really get a better compliment than that!

  1. I think this could be a classic. Bit of a slow-burner as it’s not as knock-out as Napa or Redwood but it could just end up as a must-have for a lot of people.

  2. I’m really loving this collection. I have two collections to try, no three! I just got Hands of Hope yesterday. I bought Kelly’s, mens’s and the Hands of Hope so I need to do my nails 4 times a day! Love this on you. I’ve tried 2 polishes from this collection.

  3. Oh, it’s less silver, more brown? I wonder if it’s like that Wet N Wild Shield I have, if so, I may need this too. Very pretty, even silver haha!
