BB Couture Napa Valley Red

Read Time:1 Minute, 45 Second

Napa Valley Red was the  immediate hit from the BB Couture Vampy Varnish collection. This is probably the polish from the set that has the most universal appeal, as it is a gorgeous deep red with glass flecked shimmer. I mean, what’s not to like?

Napa Valley (the place) will forever be associated in my mind with Mr Big from Sex & The City as I have a feeling he bought a vineyard there and skulked about, being mean to Carrie. Just as a side note, I was distraught when Carrie left Aidan. Distraught, I tell you! And to wind up with a cheating, lying, womanizing old man? Doesn’t really send out the right message, does it? Humph.

Anyway, back to the polish. This is definitely the colour of a deep red wine, and it glows beautifully. It’s stunning and I can see why many people have voted this the stand-out of the collection.

I do have to say though, because I am an honest so-and-so, that  I had a couple of application concerns with Napa Valley Red. It dries so fast that I did have a bit of dragging – so you need to work quickly here. Don’t get me wrong, fast-drying is a bonus in my book, but just go in being aware of this. Also, it was the chippiest of the collection. I did lose a chunk of it on day two, but I don’t know how much of this was the formula (I didn’t use a topcoat) and how much of it was me flinging tins of catfood around on our weekly shop.

Oh and despite the glitter and shimmer, I experienced zero removal issues at all.

Every collection worth its salt has to contain a red! And this one is fantastic. I like the way it glows and glitters at the same time. I don’t have any other polish like this one and I’m really pleased with it. Even if the name does make me think of Mr Big!

BB Couture polishes can be purchased from Overall Beauty for $9.00 each.

  1. This is gorgeous! I have never tried any BB Couture. I agree with what someone said about the bottle looking cheap, I wonder if that’s put me off a little. I may have to look into getting a couple from this collection.

  2. I love this shade. The red shimmer is gorgeous. Looks fantastic on you. I hated when Carrie left Aidan also. I was really upset by that also. I also think Mr Big is sexy. I thought she should move in with both!

  3. It doesn’t look red. It looks brown. How many coats was this, please? I’m veering towards getting the green (Redwood?) and the Mendocino.

  4. Hi Helen, I still haven’t bought any of this brand. But I did enjoy reading your review on this polish. It looks very much like a jewel. I never did get into watching Sex and the City…lol…don’t know why, just never did.

  5. Hi Helen!
Napa Valley Red is one of my personal favorites out of the Vampy Varnish collection. Kelly sure knows her dark colors!! The other great one is Redwood Forest.. Can’t help it, I am a green fan!!

  6. Yes – the bottles could be better, definitely. But they are relatively inexpensive polishes – I got the whole collection for $52 (6 polishes plus P&P) so I didn’t think it was too bad

  7. This was two coats. It’s very thick and pigmented. It’s not as “red” as I expected it to be – it really is the colour of a dark red wine.

  8. Oh, I know you all know this but they are doing a Hands of Hope collection (BB Couture) with some proceeds going to Haiti.
I have just ordered Kelly’s Green, Sea of Cortez and Kiersti from them. I love greens and have now decided I need more blues. Wearing Barielle Falling Star and CG Aqua Baby today….

Helen, you are great at maintaining this blog. Thank you.

  9. Oh, this is hot! I want it. I want far too many of these, really. Haha. I think that’s why I was going around asking everyone for recs!
Carrie just drove me crazy, I swear she did. I mean, WHY? Why did she leave him? I thought they were so cute together. Haha.

  10. Thankyou Jen. And yes, thankyou for this comment. I need to look into the new collection and get something up about it – I don’t have any of the polishes from it myself though.
