Today I have for you the second polish I tried from the Vampy Varnish BB Couture collection.
Kelly’s Green is the one I was least certain about when I saw the initial photos, and again when the bottle arrived I was wondering what on earth it would look like on my skintone. However, I needn’t have worried as it actually looks fantastic on. A case of something looking a bit iffy on the hanger but transforming into something great as soon as you get it on.
Kelly’s Green is a dingy avocado green that has a lot of grey mixed into it. I have never seen a colour like it,
and that’s why I really love the idea of bloggers being able to collaborate on nail varnish collections – because they (we) come up with colours that people really want to see, rather than just another red creme…
Anyway. Don’t ask me if there’s a dupe for this, as there isn’t. Darker than Illamasqua Milf and certainly greyer than Essie Mint Candy Apple or Barry M Spring Green.
This contains black and gold shimmer and glitter particles. It looks a bit lumpy in the photos but I can promise you it’s perfectly smooth, and the bumps you see are the shiny bits.
Application was good. This was three coats in the end as I still had a bit of VNL after two.
There was no pooling or dragging though and it flowed nicely. Once again this was dry in moments, but it had that slightly sticky finish that I wasn’t crazy about so a layer of topcoat remedied that very quickly.
Inside, in artificial light, this looks very grey, but outside in natural light, the green really comes out to play. I thought this wa going to be one of my least favourites of the collection but actually I love it and am very glad I ordered it!
BB Couture can be purchased for $9 a bottle from Overall Beauty
My only gripe with this is that it clashes horribly with the bottle cap. I hate the blue that BB use on their bottles and wish they’d use something more (to my eyes) chic/cool.
But I lust after their polishes like nothing else at the moment and am trying to devise a list that doesn’t exceed 3. If I buy more than 3 I never seem to appreciate them much.
Look at you angling for your own nail varnish collection! 😉
(meant in a fond way – I know if you were ever involved in such a thing it would be fabulous…!)
Fantastic colour indeed! I’m addicted to green.
Sorry but to my eyes this is a vile dirty snot green and I am a green lover.
Uhhh, not feeling this colour at all…reminds me of some old bathroom tiles from the 70s. Sorry!
I once lived in a house where the loo was this colour! But I’ll take your word that it looks better in person. A HelenSheenie varnish collection would be ace if anyone cared to make it.
LMAO @ loo! How lovely of you to suggest a collection of our own. Who knows, maybe one day…
I almost used this polish tonight. I decided to go with a new Sally Hansen Salon Naked Ambition. I have my very own mannequin hands! Love this shade on you. I love the whole collection. I really love the greens.
I’m not a fan of this one, I only really like dark greens. Have you seen the new Lancome one? It’s gorgeous!
I am in total agreement – their packaging isn’t as sophisticated as some I’ve seen.
Would be very interested to know what’s on your list of three!
Rachel – ha! And thankyou!
It’s definitely different to any other green I’ve seen before. So for that reason it gets a big tick.
I didn’t think you’d like it. There is another green in the collection being posted later in the week that is much more your thing.
You could finally get that red with gold sparkle designed to your exact specification!
The greens are glorious indeed! I have been asked to do a post about mannequin hands so will be preparing that asap.
Seen it, tried it, reviewed it! Coming later this week 🙂
Yay!
I know, Helen! I so want a red…holographic stylee!
This one is right up my alley, I have to say! It’s biggest on my lemming list. I love that it looks like a seventies bathroom or kitchen! Haha! I don’t know of anything like it.
Haha – I was saying on Teitter the other night that Mary should paint her kitchen this shade. Actually, I suggested Zoya Roxy first!
