I don’t know a single nail polish addict who doesn’t love a flakey polish.
I’ve owned GOSH’s Rainbow for the best part of a year now,but only used it a few times. It’s lovely, but as you know, I’m not one for tampering with a manicure really.
Having said that, I really enjoyed putting this post together. Hidden Treasure was a huge hit in America earlier this year, and my bottle was a gift from reader Katie who I’ve done a few swaps with recently. Thankyou Katie!
Both polished are flakes of holographic shimmer suspended in a clear glutinous jelly – kind of reminiscent of frogspawn, somehow. But, marine life aside, what we have here are two practically identical polishes.
Need proof? See the pictures below. The middle and little fingers sport Hidden Treasure, and the other two are painted with Rainbow. OK, if pushed, the flakes in Rainbow are marginally bigger, but I genuinely would not have guessed that they were different polishes by different brands. What do you think? Can you tell?

So – what do you think? Are you a fan of these types of polishes? I loved seeing the effects of them over the contrasting polish colours. Can you think of another base colour that would benefit from a flaketastic top coat?

I am a fan. I have 3 bottles of GOSH Rainbow. That’s how much a fan I am! Good to see this. HT is not needed. Good.
I can’t tell the difference. I have two bottles of HT. It really looks beautiful over most anything. I slap it on a manicure that’s getting a little tip wear. I especially like it over the darker shades. Sorry about your broken nail. It’s not as bad when I break a nail since they’re barely over the tips of my fingers. Your breaks are awful! Hope it grows back fast.
Oh, LOVE this, as I haven’t tried either over a hot pink and I need to do that! Pretty. You should try it over a bright blue, I just put it over Orly Royal Navy and I LOVE it. I didn’t see much difference either when I tested it out, but I’m glad to have two sets of pretty flakies! ♥ That purple combo is TDF.
I really can’t tell any difference! I love them both 🙂 Sorry about your broken nail!
Yep, they ‘re indistinguishable!
There’s also another dupe: Nubar 2010, exactly the same as these two!
