It’s no lie that winter is here. The past few days have been absolutely freezing, none more so than the night I was waiting for the train to get me home which was cancelled and had me waiting 45 minutes for the next one. I swear I lost all feelings from my fingers from the cold snap as I shivered on the station platform.
There’s no doubt that winter here is miserable and whenever I can, I will escape to warmer climates. My favourite time to go away is in the new year after mourning the end of Christmas. I also like to think of it as a step closer towards March which means spring is not far off.
My favourite winter break was Miami three years ago. It was 8 days of sheer bliss, sunbathing on the beach every day till the sun went down with average temperatures of about 24°C. My hotel was a 10 minute walk from the beach and I had a Sephora to drop into on the way as well. I’d never had a lazy break like that before and I loved it. I even got an impressive tan.
