Some months ago, I was fortunate to meet Dr Barbara Olioso, the founder and creator of Forest Secrets Skincare. It’s unusual to come across a chemist fronting a beauty product so openly (and an eco one for that matter) but also it’s reassurring because in her capacity, she literally knows what she is talking about.
Barbara, who hails from Italy, is the brains behind Forest Secrets, 100% natural skincare which are free from parabens, silicones, PEGs, petrochemicals, hydrogenated ingredients, synthetic fragrances and colours and GMO.
The two main products are iRejuvenate Step 1 Lifting Pro-Youth Face Oil (the orange bottle) and iRejuvenate Step 2 Regenerating Skin Serum (the green bottle).
The difference with Forest Secrets is it takes the personalised approach. What this means is it gives you, the user, control in how to tailor a moisturiser to suit your skin so for example, in winter when your skin is likely to be at its driest, you use slightly more of of the oil (step 1) and in the summer when you tend to perspire more, add an extra drop of the serum (step 2).
The two also act as anti-aging products, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, promoting elasticity and regenerating collagen as well as restoring lost radiance and luminosity to the face.
They come in these beautiful 30ml sized glass bottles with a pipette dispensor so you can control exactly how much you’d like to use. Simply take a drop or two from each bottle and mix together in the palm of your hand before applying to your face. Together the oil and the serum absorbs into the skin instantly and is suitable for all skin types and ages, in any season or climate. It’s an alternative to using face creams but giving you the same, if not, better results. As I said before, the ingredients used are natural, organic, fairly traded and clinically tested.
Dr Olioso makes an interesting point about what we apply to our skins naturally gets absorbed and enters the blood stream so it makes sense to use pure and natural skincare products on our skin just as we try to eat healthily.
I have been using the oil and serum together for the past three months both in the morning and at night, and I have noticed a profound difference in my complexion compared to when I would use regular creams and lotions. Firstly, the actual consistency of the oil and serum is far from greasy. They look like oils so you would assume they feel like oils but once massaged into the skin, there is no greasiness left. It’s almost like your skin has its thirst quenched immediately and you’re left with a soft, velvety touch.
I’ve noticed my blemishes have disappeared and I don’t get spots. My skin also feels and looks hydrated and it glows. Some days I just don’t have the urge to wear make-up – that’s how much it has rejuvenated my skin.
Using Forest Secrets has become a part of my everyday routine and I am reluctant to reach for my other creams as a result. The oil and serum have a beautiful, subtle floral scent – not overpowering like creams are – and there has been no reaction either. Some moisturisers do sometimes sting upon application, even on someone like me who generally is fortunate not to suffer too much. The oil and serium are also safe to use as a base for make-up.
Now here’s the tricky news: the oil and serum retail for £70 as a pair. This seems like a lot of money until you take into account how long they will last you (I’m only a fifth of the way through after three months so I estimate these will take me up to a year). If you are reluctant to part with your cash, there is a much more attractive incentive – you can purchase trial size bottles of 3ml for a total of £8 for the oil and serum. They’d also be excellent when travelling. Honestly, there is more than enough product in these mini bottles to give you a clear idea of how Forest Secrets works.
I’m really impressed with Forest Secrets iRejuvenate Face Oil and Serum and when my supply runs out, I’ll be heading straight to its website to place an order. Perhaps I should treat mum too? After all Mother’s Day is coming up.

I really like the sound of this stuff. Anything that makes your skin look good enough to go without makeup has got to be worth a try!
(“your” meaning the general “you”, not you specifically!)
Helen
Oh yes, you’ve got to try it, Helen especially as it’s free of all the nasties. These oils and serums also don’t feel harsh on the skin like creams do. Very gentle and kind.
I’ve just recently started to ditch supermarket and drugstore cosmetics filled with disguting parabens which do nothing for your skin at all in favor of these newly found organic oils, they really are lovely, I’m glad to see them promoted online and reviewed for more women and girls to find out about them and maybe start using this type of new and more safe and efficient skin care regime :):) lovely !
