Rococo Utility

I tried….I really tried to ignore the Cult of Rococo but I didn’t quite manage it. However, in my desire to reign back some spending and save up for the wedding, I have discovered a rather new phenomenon. Borrowing nail varnish from my friends! Why on earth didn’t I think of this before?

This little marvel comes to you courtesy of my friend Emma who came round to my h0use recently for a pizza and manicure evening chez moi, and was clever enough to realise that anyone clutching bottles of nail varnish that I don’t already have, will be welcomed over the threshold with open arms.

I’ve spent the past few months hearing wonderful things about Rococo products, and when I finally got to touch them and see them in the flesh in the Covent Garden Space NK, I was marched out (kicking and screaming) by the fiance, who had obviously recognised that naughty “one won’t hurt” glint in my eye.

It’s all I thought it would be. Amazing formula – smooth without being runny and just as good as Illamasqua or Rescue Beauty Lounge. This was two coats and I was left with the most beautiful grey creme I have ever seen. It has enough blue in it to stop you looking like you have corpse hands. I love it.

These polishes are extremely pigmented as well. I will blog on this later but the navy blue is unbelievable. You know when quality just oozes out of a product, from the gorgeous packaging right though to the awesome application. It was actually fun putting it on (and I know how sad that might make me sound).

Wear was average. I got a chip after a couple of days but I think that was more to do with housework and less to do with the polish. The rest of the nails were fine when I removed it at the end of day three. Please excuse the really shabby photos but they looked ok on my camera screen and by the time I realised that they weren’t, I had removed the varnish and my friend had taken it home.

So, all in all, I appear to have a new obsession. Oh dear. And it isn’t even my birthday any time soon.

Rococo Nail Apparel is available from Space NK and retail at £11.50 each. Click here to see the rest of the gorgeous range.

  1. This os gorgeous. I love grey creams but I’ve had application issues with some of them, like China Glaze Recycle and MAC On The Prowl. I may gove this a go. Have you seen all the new Nubar greys?

  2. Looks fantastic on you. Good idea to borrow since your saving for your wedding. Keep strong since you have an important goal to keep. Have a blessed Easter sweetie.

  3. […] So, maybe I shouldn’t be shocked that Mavala’s Berlin polish is the same kind of colour as a concrete wall. Hmm. That doesn’t make it a bad thing actually, just rather, erm…industrial. Mind you, greys are all the rage right now, what with Nubar’s Fortress collection, and the love so many of us had for Rococo’s Utility. […]
