IMG_8669Happiness. Is that too much to ask for? Well Rituals has a new collection that may help channel positive and happy vibes. It’s called the Laughing Buddha, which should raise a smile on its name alone.

The Laughing Buddha was a famous monk in ancient China who brought happiness (natch!) and good fortune wherever he went. For centuries, the ritual of rubbing his belly became a symbol of good luck and prosperity so feeling inspired by the Laughing Buddha, Rituals’ new range of products aims to evoke feelings of optimism, good luck, positivity and a touch of happiness to everyday life. And everything is orange.

But in all seriousness, this isn’t a gimmick. It is true that particular ingredients affect the senses which is why Rituals has picked energising and invigorating ones to awake your senses like sweet orange, organic mandarin and cedar wood.

There are eight products in the range from a body scrub to an antiperspirant deodorant. The ones I have been enjoying are the body cream (£15/200ml), shower oil (£8/200ml) and bed and body mist (£15/100ml).

The shower oil – Fortune Oil – is a luxurious shower gel containing sweet orange and cedar wood, which transforms into a creamy foam, leaving skin feeling soft and moisturised.

Touch of Happiness, the rich and nourishing body cream moisturises and pampers the skin leaving a warm fragrance of sweet orange and cedar wood lingering.

The bed and body mist called Happy Mist is brilliant and probably my favourite of the three. I spritz the soft scent on my pillows and bed sheets before I go to sleep and I sleep like a baby. You can also spray this all over which leaves a delicate citrus scent on the skin.

All in all, this is a delightful collection from Rituals. Fresh, energising and uplifting, it’ll put a spring in your step.
