Rescue Beauty Lounge – Scrangie

Read Time:2 Minute, 25 Second

When I first started buying nail varnish in bulk (back in winter 2008, when OPI’s Russian collection hit the shops here), one day I just idly Googled some of the shades I’d bought, in order to see if there was any information on line. And stone me if I wasn’t suddenly bombarded with this new world of websites and blogs and reviews.

Like many nail varnish bloggers I’ve spoken to, the first blog that many of us stumbled upon in our quest for knowledge was Scrangie

Thankfully, I discovered her blog on a weekend when my boyfriend was away as I must have sat for hours reading the entire thing. I was transfixed by awesome photos, humourous writing, and by the sheer fact that there was someone else out there that was as nail varnish obsessed as me.

Fast forward a year or so, and hot news broke in the blogosphere that three cult nail bloggers had been asked to collaborate with Rescue Beauty Lounge to develop their own shade. And Scrangie was born (if you know what I mean!) Now, I have mentioned here before that I have no real desire to pay RBL’s shipping costs and by the time it had registered in my brain that this polish was a limited edition, it had sold out.

Thankfully, Scrangie came to my rescue in a swap we were planning. So, here it is. Scrangie, sent to me by none other than Scrangie. Without wanting to sound like a total fan-girl-nutter, how cool is that?

And yes, this polish is as awesome as everyone says. I was initially surprised as it went on a lot redder than I expected it to, but by the third coat it had settled down and layered up, leaving me with the flashy blueish greeny purple that is so tricky to capture in a photo. I wore this on my hen party and it lasted nicely over three days, only jsut starting with some tipwear on the third day. It even got a massive compliment from the Jessica manicurist who did me a pedicure at the spa we went to.

Thinking of which, this made me laugh. I was at a blogger meetup in London recently and realised that I still had the bottle of Scrangie knocking around in the bottom of my bag. This happens a lot, as I cart various cosmetics about trying to find some decent light in which to take a photo.

The joyous expression on my friends’ faces as they looked at this bottle was really something to behold. Like they’d seen the Holy Grail of nail varnish. Or something.

So, thank you to Scrangie for being kind enough to send a bottle of her namesake polish all the way across the Atlantic. I am very grateful and extremely happy that I have such a famous polish to add to my collection!

Helen

Wow, how lucky are you?! I would love to own this polish one day, but shipping to Australia is a killer (Especially for just 1 polish)!

I didn’t think i was missing anything with not owning any of those 3 polishes, until I saw your photos. Now I really want Scrangie!

Wow, Helen, this is a fabulous color. I would love to have this for my toes!! It looks wonderful on you and suits your skin tone. Although I’ve heard of Rescue I have never looked into their products. I just googled them and wow, they are EXPENSIVE. Their polish costs more here in the states than Chanel! And Chanel has some amazing shades (and quality) as we know. I would love to try them but simply cannot bite the bullet and pay $18 + shipping for a Rescue color. Sigh…..Thanks for premiering this!

That’s pretty much the story of how *I* found polish bloggers and what happened when I found Scrangie’s blog as well. I always love hearing about how generous and wonderful all of you guys are. Somehow makes it ok when you poke a hole in my wallet!
