I can’t believe we’ve become a nation obsessed with home accessories. They are a wonderful way to brighten up the feel and look of any room in the home and there far more affordable items to choose from, which can be a bad thing as self-control is hard to fight off.
One of my most favourite recent purchases is this metal star light from Primark. I’ve noticed a trend of metal lights in shapes and letters adorning walls and tables but the cost of some of these are astronomical. I’m not sure I feel comfortable with forking out £95 for a metal lamp in the shape of an arrow (*raising eyebrows at BHS*).
Primark’s bronze metal star adds a touch of glamour to any bedside table, dresser or cabinet and is a fraction of the cost at £10. By no means is it inferior in build and quality. Its light bulbs emit a strong brightness though they are no replaceable so I am guessing if one goes bust, I’m up the creek without a paddle. Still, for a tenner I am not going to whinge. Except for one thing. It is powered by two AA batteries (as opposed to AC mains by the more expensive equivalent lights) and the case they are in is cheaply made. Trying to prise it open with a screwdriver resulted in the tab being chipped off so the lid doesn’t lock over the batteries. Perhaps I was a bit rough with it but it was inevitable. Any way, it’s nothing a bit of tape can’t remedy.
The metal star light is currently available in the homeware section of Primark.
