Orly La Vida Loca

This is almost one of the most perfect nail varnishes in my collection. I’ll come back to why it’s an “almost” in a moment, but for the meantime, just feast your eyes on all of this hot pink glory.

This was sent to me to review as a selection of polishes from the Orly core line. I took one look at the bottle and immediately fell in love. There is something about these blue toned pinks that really calls to me. And this is no exception – it’s hotter than hot, and the blue flash is totally visible all day long and in all lights. The pink is also lovely and pearly and shimmery.

Now, the reason that this is “almost” a favourite is that sadly, like many polishes of this genre, it is terribly sheer. There is absolutely no way that you could get this to build on its own. What you see here is two coats over a basic bubblegum pink creme polish. No great drama I guess, so as long as you know that this is better for layering then it’s all good, right?

I think it’s one of those varnishes that if I saw it on someone’s blog I would need to track it down straight away (let me know if you agree!). And I love the name too. When I was at university, Ricky Martin was in his prime and you couldn’t move in a club or a bar without hearing the strains of “Livin’ la Vida Loca”. So potentially, I’ve given you not only a real nail varnish lemming, but also a chronic earworm. Sorry about that, folks.

Orly polishes are available from Beauty Bay, and retail at £8.75 for an 18ml bottle.

  1. wow, how gorge! shame its so sheer. You are so right tho, i am very tempted to get my hands on it after seeing it on your blog x

  2. Glad you added the caveat. I think layering is almost like “cheating”. A good polish should stand alone. I do layer but it’s a miserable option, I feel.

  3. I bought this polish especially for the name. I was a big Ricky Martin fan. It didn’t hurt that the polish was a delicious pink. Sadly I haven’t worn it. Shame it’s sheer, darn! So pretty.
