A reposting of one of the first ever polishes I reviewed on here but with (hopefully) better photos. Quite often, I am asked about my favourite work appropriate polishes, and this is definitely one of them.
Another from the OPI Holiday In Toyland collection, I always reach for this when I want something a bit more grown-up and sophisticated. Also, there’s no way that this yells Christmas in any way shape or form, so it is totally
appropriate for any time of the year.
This always hits the spot with me. It is a very pale mauvey-grey that has a lovely sheen to it, and when the light hits it in the right way, you can see it has these little coppery flecks. Hopefully you can see what I mean.
I may have mentioned (like a million times!) that I like nail polish that does different things in different lights and this is definitely one of those. Sometimes dusty pink, sometimes more of a grey tinge.
It took about four coats to build up the opaque block colour as on first application it was very sheer. However, I had time on my hands last night (watching new episodes of Two & A Half Men – yay) so took some care over this as I knew that I wanted to wear it for a few days. I did use OPI Ridge Filler as that guarantees a smoother application for
lighter colours.
So what do you think? I am certain that this would be flattering to most skintones, and I really like the hidden extras like the coppery fleck, adding additional interest to what would ordinarily be a fairly standard nude shade.
I love revisiting old polishes and I’m really enjoying looking back through the Just Nice Things archives to see which little beauties are deserving of a revisit and some improved photos. Any requests for anything you’d like to see?
Helen
I don’t have this one but there are afew from Holiday in Toyland that I love. OPI Christmas polishes are always my favourite.
I like it – the finish reminds me of Zoya Pasha, although maybe less ‘pearly’.
This is a pretty shade. I also like when there’s a different flash of color. Nothing better than checking your nails out under a bright light to see all those interesting colors or glitters!
This one is on my wishlist for a-ges! Why I didn’t get it yet? I honestly don’t know, what a gorgeous polish!
This is a shade thats perfect for any ocassion work, play or romance. Very soft and subtle yet exciting, seductive and intriging for that “can I see them again please” reaction. The cool thing about sheer polishes is you can apply as many coats as needed for the desired look your attempting to achieve.
