OPI Queen of West Web-erly - Just Nice Things

OPI Queen of West Web-erly

Read Time:2 Minute, 13 Second

A return to a very old post today. I realised that I took these photos a while back and wanted to re-post them with the original review for you. Just a couple of notes on this – I don’t watch Beverley Hills 90210 any more (it just wasn’t the same) and my nails are a fair bit longer here – old photos – just in case you think I’ve had a sudden growth spurt. Oh, and I do still really like this polish and enjoyed wearing it again.

I do love a bit of trashy TV, and 90210 is no exception. There’s a stat I read somewhere that in times of recession, viewers actually want to watch stuff featuring glitz, glam, and people generally living fabulous, care-free, flamboyant lives. In fact, (Beverly Hills) 90210 was popular during the recession of the early 90s so it’s no great shocker that it’s doing the same thing about 15 years on.

Any way. This was part of OPI’s 2009 Valentine’s Collection – a limited edition release based on the new 90210 series. It comprises of a red, an orange (neither of which I bothered with) and this one. <EDIT: I now have the red!>

I saw the name before I saw the show, and basically it is named for the character Silver, who writes a salacious blog (hence “web”). A bit of a crap name to be honest. Although Silver in the show has just gone totally nuts, got her boyfriend’s name tattoed on her, filmed them having sex and screened it to the whole of her class. Just another average school day, right?

I am convinced I have a different version of this to other bloggers. Pics I have seen show it to be a shimmery purple colour and I’ve noted several application issues. Complete the reverse for me. It was far more red/coppery than purple, and was totally opaque in two coats. No application worries whatsoever, in fact, it was one of the best OPIs I’ve ever used.

In the bottle, this has swirls of orange and gold but you can’t really see this in the natural indoor light. However, in artificial light – kind of a different story. You can see the flecks of microglitter and it lights up a lot more. Far more exciting and there are also flecks of orange and blue! Wow.

So, all in all, a nice colour. Work appropriate and interesting enough to make me smile but only under artificial light. Would make a nice pedicure, I think. But would it get you noticed on Rodeo Drive? Probably not.

Lovely – I never bought this one but have often thought of it. My High School BTW was used in the first yrs as the location for Beverly Hills 90210 (the original with Tori Spelling, et all). It was fun just to watch it to see my old locker bays, the covered walk way, the Senior patio. They even did in classroom shots and used a # of my old science labs. I could not follow the story line due to I was too jazzed to be seeing my old stomping grounds! The memories just flooded back! Enough memories to put me in charge along with one other person as the chairs of our 30th HS class reunion – now we passed out 40th class reunion and thinking toward 50!
